    The Gathering 01.27 – Lonesome & Lies

Alice paced the office floor feeling a keen sense of deja vu she’d done this way to many times in the last two months.  She felt like her job was in jeopardy since she’d been focusing on love instead of work.  Alice sighed, pushing an annoying strand of her blonde hair out of her eyes with a mutter under her breath.  She spied the owner of LA Magazine and her heart stopped suddenly, oh she was so fired!  She groaned, finally sitting down in the chair and waiting for the inevitable.

It was that damn chart!  She vowed to erase it and ditch the website as soon as she got home.  That was it, ***** always leads to trouble.  She cursed silently, what was she going to do now?  She could easily go write somewhere else, but she’d been in on the ground floor of this magazine.  She built herself into a pretty damn good journalist, as least she thought so.

Oh Dana, what were they going to do?  Just in the dawn of our relationship and I get my ***** fired from the one real job she’d ever had that she enjoyed.  She rubbed her hands on the pants she was wearing, thinking she hated what she was wearing and could never wear it again.  It henceforth be known as ‘the outfit I got fired in.’  Tainted for all eternity, never being able to see these shoes again, without thinking she walked her last time down these halls in them.

God it sucked to be fired, she thought wondering how she was going to act when it really  happened?  She sighed again, her eyes darting left and right, pondering who else knew?  Surely it wasn’t a big secret, she must have been part of the water cooler gossip for days now and she hadn’t even known it.  Damn!  How could she have let this happen?  How?  Damn!  She stood again, feeling her palms getting sweaty again.

She was going to go in there and plead her case just like Dana had.  They couldn’t fire her; they needed her fresh outlook on life in LA.  She knew the hot spots, she knew the women, too many, but she knew them!  She had connections, of course she did, she had her pulse in this city.

    4. WHAT!! Ok, I know, it’s her “twin” sister from another mother or her cousin or maybe Shane is losing her vision again or was their open relationship too open? Hey, why was Shane’s file on Tina’s desk? Wasn’t Tina looking through current things? We are anxiously waiting.
