The Family – Chapter Nine – Rings
Tina: You did?!
Bette: Yes, I wanted it to be perfect.
Wanda: Now, what can I do for you?
Tina: We wanted engagement rings.
Wanda: Getting married again?
Bette smiled proudly.
Bette: Yes.
Wanda: Congrats. Now let me show you some rings of the new collection.
After an hour it was down to two rings. The first one was a silver ring. It was about one centimeter wide and there were two diamond circles on it that intertwined. The second ring was white golden and was thinner than the other. It had two white diamonds and looked simpler but was also beautiful.
Bette: I like the white golden one.
Tina: I like the silver one.
They had been like this for 10 minutes.
Bette: I have an idea. My ring for you is the silver one and you give me the white golden one. Deal?
Tina smiled.
Tina: Okay then.
Wanda: You picked something?
Bette: Yes.
She told which ones they wanted.
Wanda: Okay, you want something encrypted?
Bette: Yes I do.
She took out a paper and handed it to Wanda.
Tina: Me to.
She did the same.
Wanda: I can be ready with the rings in about an hour. Maybe you two could drink something in the cafe on the other side of the road.
Bette: Okay. See you later, Wanda.
Tina: Bye.
They walked out of the shop and into the cafe.
—
A few hours later they were home.
Bette: Can I see the rings now?
Bette had been nagging to see the rings all day but Tina wanted to wait until they had eaten something and were home.
Tina: You are a child, Bette. But yes let’s see the rings.
Bette couldn’t help a smile spreading across her face. She took the bag and took two velvet boxes out of it. They sat down on the couch. Tina took one velvet box where Bette’s ring was in.
Tina: So now it’s my turn Bette. Will you marry me again?
Bette smiled.
Bette: Of course.
Tina opened the box.
Tina: Read what I let Wanda in script.
