The Dying of the Light Part 21
“Bullshit!” Bette yelled, throwing Kit a look of pure venom. “Get out, get out!” She ordered, calming when the Doctor started to usher Kit out.
“Right now Ms Porter, Bette doesn’t want out help. Until we can get her on some medication and have her thinking more clearly, it might be for the best if you don’t see her.”
The clinical way that the doctor told her not to come hit Kit like a punch to the stomach, bending over she started to cry. “She’s my sister… I need to see her.”
Resting her hand on Kit’s arm, the doctor enunciated precisely, “but right now, she can’t see you.”
Alice and Tina walked back down the hall, trying to locate the elusive Helena who wasn’t in either her room, or the conservatory – the 2 places that Helena could be found. After a quick look into the Kitchen, they head to the guest rooms.
The first room was empty, but they could hear what sounded like sawing from the room next door. Slowly they approached the room, and poked their heads around the corner in a farcical impersonation of police in police drama’s. What they saw, stopped them in their tracks.
Helena was sitting on the floor, cutting a square out of the carpet with a Stanley knife, tears rolling down her checks.
Alice looked over to Tina, silently begging her to take control of the situation. Alice had no idea what to do, and she knew right now that her natural penchant to throw in a joke would not be appreciated.
Slowly stepping into the room, Tina called out the Helena. “What are you doing honey?” she asked, once she knew she had her attention.
“I can’t clean it.” Helena explained, putting down the knife for a moment. “I can’t clean it. She almost died here, and I can’t clean it.”
For the first time Tina really looked at the colour of the carpet, and she realised that it was stained a muted red – blood. This is the room where they almost lost Bette to herself… Ohh god. Her legs gave out and she feel to the floor.
“I can’t clean it. I need it to be clean.”
Tina heard the hysterical words, and she knew that at that moment they were all very much like Lady MacBeth. Out Damned spot. Out.

She needs to come to terns with Why and how not to do it again, and that each person in her life are in the dark place and for them to all recover, she needs to do the same. Her friends needs Bette Porter in their life for a long time most of all Angie needs Bette as well as Bette needs her.
thank you thank you thank you for sharing this tragically beautiful story! how I have missed your writing. You have such a powerful way of weaving words together. Beauty rises out of pain at times and this story is certainly a wonderful example of that
Oh My Beautiful Dee… I have missed you so much… but I understand… but this… this right here… its like darkness consuming… all the light is gone… and we are left in shadows of desperation… of heartache… and my heartaches… there is so much love here… and yet we can see that love is the light at the end of the tunnel… its the quiet dying light that twinkles with hope… so much to say so so much… but I will leave you with this last bit, Love and Hugs, Always and Forever My Most Entrancing Friend… I am with you forever… JC, (Your Latin Nephew to those Salsa Angels and the ever loving Cuzzie to the ever talented Eunichick, the sweetest of the sweets patpez and Personal Fanner to the Incredibly Talent Deean)
I was worried you wouldn’t bring this one back. So glad you did, although it is at times a painful read, you write it so well. I can feel the pain each one of them is suffering. I so hope they will all be able to come back from this great and be able to put their lives back together again. I’m also hoping Tina and Angie will be able to see Bette soon. Maybe that will be the push she needs to help herself out of this depression. PPS this is too good to let go.
Gosh, this is so painful to read and watch but necessary nevertheless. At some point, I hope Bette willallow Tina to be near her and let Tina bring the baby and to hear that she really does love her and had intended for her to see the baby and to have custody of her. These are the most important things that Bette needs to hear in order to get well. I know it is a lot for her to take but she must if she is to get well. Hope that Kit will continue too try to see her when the doctors says its alright to do so.PPS Painful but a mst necessary part of the story.
so emotional!! bette needs to understand what she did and why she did it! :)PPS
What an incredible chapter. This story is so painful to read, but so beautiful too. I hope Bette finds a way to realize her importance in Angies life. Thanks for continuing this story, I can’t imagine how hard it must be to write.
This chapter was dark and painful but I am ever hopeful that Bette they will all pull themselves up and out of this blackness. Thank you for sharing this wonderful story and bringing it back to us. pps
Hi, sweet Deean, welcome back! It’s too soon to realize how Bette is going to react. She needs to analize the ordeal she went through and try to accept the help needed. As for Helena, she really could use some support from her friends. She still has the trauma of seeing Bette’s blood. Tina, for the first time in years, is thinking of someone else, instead of being focused on herself. Awsome update, dear friend. PPS Hugs & kisses on both your cheeks – Lucero & Marsha (Proud Salsa Aunties to the ever loving JC and Eunichick and Tias Adoradas to Patpez)
