“And what if you chose someone you know?”
“There are legal ramifications. We’d have to see a lawyer. It’s not something we would go into without legal advice.”
“And would that person have to go to the cryobank in California to donate his sperm?”
“No, not really, it would depend on where he lived. There are sperm banks in most large cities. If I for example looked through the list and found someone, let’s even say in Milwaukee, that person would go to a local sperm bank, leave his donation and it would be shipped in liquid nitrogen to my cryobank. It’s that simple and impersonal.”
“It sounds like you know a lot about it.”
“We’ve done a lot of research.”
She did not go into her experience with Tina. She did not say that they had tried all the ways that are available until Tina finally got pregnant. She did not say a word and it was just as well.
Soon after that I got the feeling that it was time to go. They needed to think about what we talked about, particularly Chuck. I knew that we had an ally in Melissa and so did Bette. She was doing her best to bond with her and seemed to be succeeding.
When the subject finally got changed we discussed what we would be doing tomorrow. Chuck suggested a stroll along the River Walk. He said it would be a fun thing to do and the kids would enjoy it too. He said it is just a few blocks from the Hyatt so they would meet us in the lobby at 10 a.m. and we could have lunch later, along the way.
We were really tired by the time we got to bed. It had been a long and full day. We snuggled, enjoyed a few warm kisses and soon dozed off.
The next morning we talked about what had transpired the night before at my brother’s. We came with a basic plan but , “the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry”. In this case it was for the better and much more genuine.
It was Bette’s quest and she was handling it beautifully, much to her own surprise.
“It never dawned on me to approach it through Melissa,” she said.

My first question was going to be “Is there really a Safe House restaurant in Milwaukee, because it sounds freakin’ awesome?”, but Bette’s Babe beat me to it. Hope dinner goes as well as their afternoon with maybe a little baby talk thrown in. Great chapter Sis!
K, I was in Milwaukee last year in November when we had tickets to a Green Bay Packers game in Green Bay. I wish I had known about The Safe House then but I didn’t. We had quite an adventure ourselves when we attempted to fly back to California and it snowed so hard the planes were grounded. We had to spend another night in a hotel wbich the airlines paid for. It was kind of neat really. We almost didnt get off the ground the next day either, having to wait in the plane for some time.
Wisconsin is a tourist dream city(smile)..lots of sightseeing..nice update, but Chuck’s attitude is not up to par…hope B&S gets their wish for their sperm donor..anxious for the nxt chapter to hear C&M’s reaction
Gummy Bear, I will try to post a new chapter later tonight (Sunday) so you can know their reactions.
Do they really have a spy restaurant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin? That would be fun to visit if it does exist. Can’t wait to see how Chuck and Melissa would say during the dinner re: B & S. They should know by now what the intention of their trip is and let’s hope Chuck is willing to donate his sperm. Of course there are lots of things to consider before it comes to reality. Please post soon.
Bette’s Babe, Yes there is such a restaurant in Milwaukee. I found it in my research and was intrigued with the concept. You would think there would be a franchise with other suck restaurants around the USA. Nothing succeeds like success. As for the storyline, we shall see what we shall see. Meanwhile, I appreciate your comments.
