“In fact,” she said, with a twinkle in her eye. “I will set it up where you will be side by side on tables and you’ll both have to decide which one I do first. Just minutes apart. That’s the least I can do for two women who not only will do a first in my history as a doctor, but whom I truly admire for your spunk and spirit.”
I smiled.
Dr. Wilson then gave me a physical examination. She also sent me to other parts of the hospital for tests. I was there most of the day. At 5 o’clock, I was waiting in her office for the results. When she finally came in she had a positive look on her face. She told me that I was in excellent physical condition. She assured me, like she had told Bette, that as long as we continued to take good care of ourselves, we should have no trouble having an uncomplicated pregnancy and a healthy baby.
She added, “I’ll even go out on a limb and tell you that you both give the appearance of still being in your 30’s at the most and feeling as good as I know you both do, that’s half the battle. I’ve seen women in their 40’s who act and feel like they’re 55. A lot of them get pregnant when they don’t want to and those are the ones I worry about.”
I went away feeling good about it all and quickly called Bette to tell her the good news. She got enthused all over again.
She was also trying to pool our investments and try to come up with a possible figure to see if we could increase our down payment on the San Pedro house. I had split everything with Howie according to California law but there was not much there of short term value. There was also half of his retirement up to the date of our divorce, which was something that I would not touch considering it was the only money I would have when the time came.
Bette had received investment transfers after her father passed on. He had a diverse financial portfolio that was very impressive. She and Kit had hired a financial advisor to sort it all out and divide it. Once they were given balanced shares, it was suggested that they just leave it alone and keep re-investing the dividends to prepare for their retirement. Kit had never had such a plan, so the inheritance was a godsend that she respected and did not, would not dip into it, allowing it to build.

Wow, there another suspension, why did Terry’s lawyer want to talk with Sissee alone? I guess it is all positive, because Bette and Terry both gave it a go. Now we know Bette has enough money to afford the house they want, it is a good sign for their future. I am dying to know who gets pregnant. My guess now is Sissee, I know I know, Sissee the writer, you are not going to reveal it here. I will be patient.
Hi, Sissee, glad to see another update. Thanks for the feedback of my last comment. First of all, I would like to point out that I am thrilled with the idea of Bette’s pregnancy. Am just confused the way of saying the particular line. Maybe it’s me, I dont Know. I am 22, and the only child of my parents. They got separated when I was 1. I hardly know my mom who got married afterward. It’s ok because I had a big family in my childhood. Perhaps It’s the sympathy for Angie doing the talking. However, I still think you are doing the good job presenting a marvelous story. Thank you for sharing and PPS!
Bette’s Babe, Oh I see how it is, first you give me a post to comment on and then you tell me what I am going to say. I mean for you to be suspenseful . I want you to wonder what the lawyer is going to say to Sissee and I’m surprised you didn’t take a guess at it. I also want you to wonder if Bette and Sissee both get pregnant or if just one of them gets pregnant or if neither of them does. You put the odds on Sissee getting pregnant and I will remember that was your guess. Thanks for being here and for your continuous posts. I really like answering them.

dance maple, Thank you for your last comment, particularly. It makes me happy to know you are enjoying the story. You also say you are thrilled at the prospect of Bette being pregnant. I guess quite a few fanfic writer’s pursued this angle after Jennifer Beals gave birth. Anything is possible. I like to think my story is different though, because it is. You will have to wait to see what I am talking about there. You are very young being just 22 and I wonder if you will pursue knowing your mother. You have a very interesting story all your own that will or will not develop. The choice is yours.

Very curious as to why Terry’s lawyer would want to talk to Sissee alone. I’m a terrible guesser, so I’ll just wait for your reveal. As to who gets pregnant first or which one, I have no clue, I’m just along for the wonderful ride. Thanks!
Kbergin47, The private conversation between the lawyer and Sissee has much to do with their future as the wheels continue to turn toward setting these two up in a good place. We will eventually be pleased with their combined good fortune and then………….
