The Adventures Of Bette Porter And Sissee Gardner Living Happily Ever After (Part 3, Chapter 2)
PART THREE: SAN PEDRO, CALIFORNIA
Chapter 2
On Tuesday morning I kept my appointment with Dr. Wilson at the Pacific Coast Hospital. The first part of my meeting with her was in her office.
Bette had talked with her already about both of us getting pregnant at the same time. The doctor had no qualms about that but she did want to warn us about the risks involved.
“A woman is born with all of the eggs in her ovaries that she will ever produce in her life,” she said. “That being said, by age 45, depending on your health and lifestyle, all the eggs left are older too and put your baby at risk for birth defects such as Down’s Syndrome.”
Just as she had wanted Bette to understand that risk, because we were close to that age, she also wanted me to accept it as a possibility too. Plus she stressed the conception factor, saying that as women age it becomes more difficult for them to conceive which was turning out to be a fact in Bette’s case.
I told her I was worried about Bette conceiving. I told her how difficult it is for her to give up Angelica at the end of a weekend and that she so desperately wanted a child of her own. I told her we had long range plans of being together, that we were on the cusp of buying a home and that we hoped to live happily ever after and that is why, all things considered, I hoped to have a baby if she could not. If it turned out that we both got pregnant that was even better. Time was the issue. Time was the big factor here.
She smiled and said she understood our need to double up on our chances.
She asked me about my past pregnancies and I told her that I was at my healthiest during those periods, both mentally and physically and that I had no hesitation facing it again. They were positive experiences and the end result of having the three children I have made it all the more rewarding.
I told her about my donor. I did not tell her who he was because it was irrelevant. She said that Bette had an appointment on August 15th and she suggested that if she found everything was okay with me, I have my donor come in at that time too, to donate a specimen that she would inseminate at the same time she injected Bette with her donor‘s sperm.

Wow, there another suspension, why did Terry’s lawyer want to talk with Sissee alone? I guess it is all positive, because Bette and Terry both gave it a go. Now we know Bette has enough money to afford the house they want, it is a good sign for their future. I am dying to know who gets pregnant. My guess now is Sissee, I know I know, Sissee the writer, you are not going to reveal it here. I will be patient.
Hi, Sissee, glad to see another update. Thanks for the feedback of my last comment. First of all, I would like to point out that I am thrilled with the idea of Bette’s pregnancy. Am just confused the way of saying the particular line. Maybe it’s me, I dont Know. I am 22, and the only child of my parents. They got separated when I was 1. I hardly know my mom who got married afterward. It’s ok because I had a big family in my childhood. Perhaps It’s the sympathy for Angie doing the talking. However, I still think you are doing the good job presenting a marvelous story. Thank you for sharing and PPS!
Bette’s Babe, Oh I see how it is, first you give me a post to comment on and then you tell me what I am going to say. I mean for you to be suspenseful . I want you to wonder what the lawyer is going to say to Sissee and I’m surprised you didn’t take a guess at it. I also want you to wonder if Bette and Sissee both get pregnant or if just one of them gets pregnant or if neither of them does. You put the odds on Sissee getting pregnant and I will remember that was your guess. Thanks for being here and for your continuous posts. I really like answering them.

dance maple, Thank you for your last comment, particularly. It makes me happy to know you are enjoying the story. You also say you are thrilled at the prospect of Bette being pregnant. I guess quite a few fanfic writer’s pursued this angle after Jennifer Beals gave birth. Anything is possible. I like to think my story is different though, because it is. You will have to wait to see what I am talking about there. You are very young being just 22 and I wonder if you will pursue knowing your mother. You have a very interesting story all your own that will or will not develop. The choice is yours.

Very curious as to why Terry’s lawyer would want to talk to Sissee alone. I’m a terrible guesser, so I’ll just wait for your reveal. As to who gets pregnant first or which one, I have no clue, I’m just along for the wonderful ride. Thanks!
Kbergin47, The private conversation between the lawyer and Sissee has much to do with their future as the wheels continue to turn toward setting these two up in a good place. We will eventually be pleased with their combined good fortune and then………….
