That’s What Friends Are For [Chapter Ten]

    “Stop being so modest, Tee.”

Tina looked at Bette in disbelief followed by a defeated sigh, “Fine, whatever, I’ll cook. I am apologising in advance for the less-then-great food.”

Since there was nothing better to do with their time, Tina thought that she might as well prepare some vegetables for their meal. She hit the power button on the radio then busied herself whilst dancing to the music.

Unknown to her, Melvin was stood in the doorway studying her every move.

Just as she went to grab several carrots from the fridge, he decided to make his presence known. Causing Tina to jump and drop the knife she’d been holding. It fell to the floor but caught the side of her foot.

“Fuck!” She exclaimed, immediately lifting her foot to avoid putting pressure on it. “Fuck, fuck, fuck. Why did you have to sneak up on me?”

Melvin was a little taken back by her question and went to answer it, but Bette appeared by his side.

    “What the hell happened?”

She looked down at Tina’s foot and grimaced. She couldn’t make out the cut because of the amount of blood protruding from it. Without a second thought, she grabbed the roll of kitchen paper and fell to her knees.

    “Hold still, Tee.”

“Fuck, Bette, it hurts. Ouch, what did you do?”

Bette threw a wary glance up at her before pushing slightly harder onto the wound. It was met by a painful moan from Tina and a violent jerk of her foot, attempting to get away from Bette’s hands.

“Tee, I need to apply pressure to stop the bleeding.”

With a lot of reluctance, Tina stilled her movements and allowed Bette to continue. When she finally looked down at her foot, her eyes widening with the amount of blood she saw. Her cheeks paled dramatically and she had to look away as soon as she felt her stomach contents rising in her throat.

    “Are you ok, Miss. Kennard?”

“I feel dizzy.” She clasped her hand over her forehead, trying to prevent the oncoming headache. “I feel so… dizzy.”

As soon as that word left her lips, her knees gave way and she fell to the floor. Bette was there to soften her fall though and quickly wrapped her arms around the blond as she instructed her father to get a damp cloth.

    1. I think Tina delt with Melvin fine if Bette can’t stand up to him someone should. Melvin is the one that needs to chill Bette is a grown woman she is successful and educated so he should stay out of her personal life. If he doesn’t like it he shouldn’t come around.

    2. But, please, someone could explain to me why…why people worry about someone who didn´t give a shit to their feelings, like Melvin?! It´s rethorical, cause i already know is low self esteem, guilty complex, but please… Say something, Bette! Great chap! Thanks!:)

    3. I think one thing some people may be forgetting is that Tina was assaulted. I immediately thought of that when she dropped the knife and cut her foot. She may be guarding herself overtime when it comes to men in general and with Melvin not liking her for some stupid reason it may hurt even more because he’s connected to Bette. Anyway, what DID crawl up Melvin’s ass and die?
