“Bette, do you believe in ‘soul mates’?” Catherine asked

Bette didn’t answer

“You know Better that one person in life you are destined to be with no matter what, no matter all the shit life and people throw your way, even if you lose your way with that person, when they are your soul mates they’re destined to find you again, be yours forever, they will change your life forever?”

“I thought I did once” Bette replied

“But I don’t think I do any more” Bette replied sadly

“Wow, I’m sorry you feel that way Bette”

“Why?” Bette asked puzzled

“You know I was talking to Alice and Shane at the planet they invited me over for a cup of coffee, and we all agreed that Tina was made for you, we thought she was your soul mate.”

“Let’s just say  I haven’t had too much  luck in the relationship department. And I’m a little hesitant to call anyone my ‘soul mate’ you know forever is a long time  to have to put up with my insecurities and control issues” Bette laughed

“So, what about Tina?”

“What does Tina mean to you Bette?”

Bette formed a huge smile on her face, for the first time rendered speechless.

“You love her don’t you?” Catherine asked

“More than I can say” Bette answered

That was enough for Catherine to know Bette had found her soul mate. Bette just wasn’t aware of it yet.

They reached the restaurant and had a quick dinner, both realizing that they had just become great friends.

Bette got home dropped her case on the floor and walked back to her bedroom where she feel on her back on her bed.

Bette was exhausted, and seeing Jodie had rattled her, not because she had still had feelings for her if anything Bette realized just how much she loathed Jodie. Jodie just brought back all the reasons why Bette avoided relationships.

Even though deep down inside she knew Tina was the total opposite of Jodie Bette started to feel scared ‘what if Tina realized I wasn’t good enough for her and left me?’ ‘What if, Tina found someone better, someone who could express their feelings more freely?’ Tina leaving, that scared Bette.
