Chapter 30

Minutes later Jodie walked out of the studio looking Bette right in the eyes she said:

“I’ll see you later Bette” Jodie said with a smile and a wink as she walked away.

“Hey Bette, sorry to keep you waiting” Catherine walked out putting on her suit jacket. 

Catherine saw the look on Bette’s face.

“I take it you don’t like her much?’ Catherine spoke

“I’m indifferent to her” Bette replied

“She is rather, self absorbed isn’t she?” Catherine asked

“She’s talented, somewhat attractive, you know she’s all the rage in Europe unfortunately her attitude make’s you overlook everything else.”

Bette was silent.

“Are you ok Bette?” Catherine asked

“Yeah, I guess I didn’t realize how tired I really am”

“Ok come on lets, go grab a quick dinner, then you can go home and soak in a tub of warm bubbles, then you can call that sexy girlfriend of yours, I’m sure your missing her”

“You read my mind” Bette smiled

They started walking down to the bistro in silence when Bette said

“Catherine, thanks for being a friend”

“Bette, your one of my oldest and dearest friends I’ll always be here for you, I admit things were a bit difficult for me at the start, I was a little hurt, but I saw the changes in you, you were more relaxed and seemed much happier I realized it was because you were with Tina, she brings out the good in you.”

“Catherine…”

“Bette let me finish this is not easy for me” Catherine paused

“I was angry at myself for a while, for not being the reason you were happier, I was angry, angry at myself for not paying more attention to you, for working too many long hours, not taking enough time to be your friend, I was doing all the things a broken hearted girlfriend would go through you know  was going through all the “What ifs” then I realized I was never your girlfriend we had an ‘understanding’ then I realized could have done all the what if’s, and more but it still wouldn’t have made a difference, it wasn’t me you were meant to be with it was Tina.”
