Chapter 8: The Discovery

Los Angeles, Present Day Normal POV

Helena was sitting in The Planet, letting the news of Bette’s return sink in. What would Tina do? Helena knew that Tina was still in love with Bette even after seventeen years and what do anything to have Bette back but what would Tina think of Bette knowing that she had waited seventeen years to come home? All of this thought processing was interrupted by someone clearing their throat. Helena looks up to see Dana with two cups

“You look like you need a latte” Dana puts the latte down in front of Helena then sits down in the chair opposite “What’s up” Helena didn’t know whether to tell Dana about Bette’s surprise return or not knowing that Dana was married to Alice and Dana would probably tell Alice

“Dane I need to keep what I’m to tell you quiet from Tina, promise me” Dana is slightly confused and worried why she would need to keep something from her best friend

“Ok I promise” Helena looks around her to make sure Tina had come into the Planet before leaning over

“Bette is coming home to LA” Dana’s eyes widen with shock, had she heard Helena correctly? Bette Porter was coming home to LA

“You’re fucking kidding me right” Helena’s silence told Dana the whole story. She wasn’t kidding “Oh my god you’re not are you” Helena shakes her head. Dana takes a large drink of her coffee “Does Tina know” Helena shakes her head

“That’s why I asked you not to tell Tina, I think it might be better coming from Kit” Dana nods her head “There’s something else you should know” Dana eggs Helena to tell her “Bette’s works is the centrepiece of the gallery opening we’re all invited too” Dana let’s all this news sink in. Bette was coming back to LA and her work was the centrepiece at the new gallery opening that they were all invited too thanks to Helena’s mother. Just then Alice walks into the Planet and spots Helena and Dana sitting in the corner “Oh fuck it’s your wife” Dana swings her head around to see Alice walking towards them “Tell Alice but make sure she keeps quiet” Dana nods, still in a stunned silence
