    Tina had debated whether she was going to tell Kate that Emma was going away. She still hadn’t decided – she knew there were things that she didn’t intend to tell her but if she was asked a question straight out she would probably tell the truth. Bette had said that it wasn’t her job to tell lies for either parent – it would make things hard for her if she did get drawn into the mess. She got on with eating her burger and hopefully letting the tensions ease a little.
    “it was never my intention to hurt you “ Kate said
    “You handled it badly mom  – Bette said that she wanted to take you to one side and tell you that you were doing everything wrong that it was possible to do. I don’t see why you couldn’t have told me with mom – and I didn’t deserve to be ignored. What you and mom have always taught me is told hold up your hands when you have done something wrong. I would respect you more if you just came out and said that you were busy making out or something and I was not on your mind “
    “No “ Kate said “That is not true – you were on my mind and I was concerned about you”
    “So why didn’t you come straight over and tell me ?”
    “I don’t know “
    Tina shook her head – any excuse from the teenage Tina Kennard that centred around the conversation – “so why did you do x ? “and the reply being “ I don’t know “ usually doubled her punishment. Tina took a drink of her beer and went back to her burger
    “So what have you been doing for the last few weeks ? Do you intend to return to work ?”
    “We have been away for a few days – just got back from LA. Alex has a house over there and it was lovely to get some sun on my back. As for work – I don’t know. I can see that I shouldn’t go back there – I know she would rather I didn’t but I have worked there all my adult life. I don’t really want to walk away from that but I do have other interests “
    “Like what ?”
    “All sorts of things – art and campaigning for gay rights – there is so much I could do – travelling is something that I want to do a lot of. The trouble with Emma is she never wanted to do anything exciting – Alex is not like that “
    Tina really didn’t want to know what Alex liked to do or otherwise – it was comforting to be able to hear Bette’s voice in her head saying “ stay calm “. Tina bite into an onion ring rather than say anything about Emma’s cruise.
    “So you would give up law ?” Tina asked
    “I think it would be awkward to work with Emma again don’t you “
    “There are divorced couples working at the firm”
    “Yes but most of them are reasonable people  – Emma isn’t reasonable“ she said laughing.
    “ENOUGH “ Tina said
    “What ?”
    “I am not going to listen to you saying nasty things about her – you either realise that or you and I are not going to be able to mend fences “
    “Tina ! “

    2. Well done, ally. Tina is caught in the middle and doesn’t know what to do. Perhaps Emma has done somethings to Kate that Tina is unaware of. Couples always have secrets that their kids don’t know about. So happy that you posted… actually double posted! Do you have a chapters of NYM laying about??

    3. Thanks for posting, Sir Rocky. Kate had the opportunity to come clean to her daughter but she continues to defend her poor actions. The new sex is making her ask like a lovestruck teenager. If Kate continues this madness, she will make Tina chose sides. Bette has become such a mature young woman and she is doing everything she can to be a good partner to Tina.

      Kate really does not behave reasonably, she handled the situation poorly.
      but for me it is not entirely understood, Emma suddenly become “the best”. Emma got the own shit.
      Tina is badly handled things. No matter what happens, no matter how much blood will be a divorce, she can not choose sides. Kate, the same way her mother (she practically raised her, Kate, who had stay at home with Tina, not Emma) I understand that Tina angry with her, so Kate should not behave like that. but Tina can not rush it, she should talk to Kate things. I feel there is something in the background, we do not know their marriage.
      I’m looking forward to the next chapte

    9. Kate seems to have regressed into a teenager and Tina has become the mom in their relationship. Accusing Tina of being on Emma’s side is not helping her case.

Another great chapter I think tina did the right thing by walking out kate realy handled that lunch bad by attacking emma when she clearly is in the wrong showed no class tina knows how emma has been in the past but for kate not too see that she is to blame in this situation is so wrong anyway pps ally.

    14. Well Kate played this situation totally the wrong way. Poor Tina! For starters Kate should’ve been in time and secondly she should’ve started with an apology. Tina lasted longer than I would’ve during that conversation. Thanks for the update! Post soon please.

    15. awesome update. i have lost track of this story when the site was redesigned and so i missed some chapters but i did felt lost at all. this is really good. amazing as always. :)
