Marina and Jenny seemed to say goodbye with an intense look as Bette lit her cigarette and looked over her shoulder at Moira, passing one to her. After the look was over Marina backed up and whispered lightly, “Another time another place,” solemnly. And with that, she waved her hand, and was gone around the back alley of Milk.
Jenny’s eyes were bright and shining with tears.
Marina doubled over once safely in the confines of the shadowy alley, tears pouring from her eyes as she sobbed uncontrollably. Finally dealing with the emptiness inside her as she should have from day one. She knew the place in her heart where Jenny had once filled with love, would never be full again. Not without her. But she had seen her new life, and that was one thing, she was not going to destroy.
Chapter 47
“Ew, oh no she didn’t!”
“***** yes she did!”
“Guys! Stop doing your ghetto impressions!” Shane snapped and Carmen raised her eyebrows. Shane looked away almost sheepishly, though her eyes were fiery.
“Wow, Shane. You only get that bitchy over one thing. Is someone sexually frustrated? I thought you two were getting it on like rabbits?” Alice said, trying to hold in her laughter so she didn’t spill her coffee.
“Shaney and I have a little bet going on,” Carmen said, looking over at Shane mischievously as her girlfriend looked away with angry eyes.
Everyone at the table groan and rolled their eyes almost knowingly. Carmen looked up questioningly.
“Not a ***** bet?” Dana asked, her voice clearly disbelieving. Carmen was sceptical.
“Yeah why?”
“A ***** bet that involves you two betting how long you can hold out?” Bette asked it was painfully obvious that she was dreading the answer.
“Yeah. How do you know?”
“Oye! Classic ***** mistake. Let me guess, Carmen, you got thinking that maybe you guys have ***** too much because we tease you about it all the time, and we’re always right. And Shane, you didn’t want to have the bet but Carmen egged you on, saying you were too much of a ***** addict to keep your hands off of her for say two weeks?” Alice said, shaking her head the entire time at their stupidity.
