Shane and Molly: A Love Story – Chapter 16

“As long as I’m marrying you, it will be,” Molly says, sincerely, as she caresses Shane’s cheek. Shane gives Molly a crooked smile as she leans in and kisses her.

Later that day, as Shane and Molly are sitting at the kitchen table poring over wedding magazines, there is a knock at the door.

“You guys decent?!” Alice calls out, laughing.

Shane and Molly laugh as Shane calls out, “Yeah. Come in. It’s open.”

Alice, Tasha and Jenny come in and sit down at the table with them.

“Jen, you didn’t need to stay at Alice’s last night,” Shane says, apologetically.

“No, it’s okay. I wanted to give you guys some privacy,” Jenny says, patting Shane’s hand. “Is Shay home yet?”

“No, Bette and Tina are coming over with him in a little bit,” Molly says.

Taking the magazine from Shane’s hand, Alice says, “So, already making wedding plans?”

“Yeah, we don’t have a lot of time,” Shane says, taking the magazine back. “We’re doing it in three weeks.”

“Three weeks?!” Tasha exclaims. “You guys are nuts.”

“Nah. It’s going to be small and really casual. We’re doing it on the beach,” Molly says, flipping through the magazine.

“Oh, that sounds nice,” Alice says, as she scoots her chair over closer to Molly to look over her shoulder.

“Al, can we talk for a minute?” Shane asks.

Surprised, Alice says, “Uh, yeah, sure.”

Shane gets up and walks over to the door, but not before placing a kiss atop Molly’s head. She opens the door, lets Alice go first and then closes it behind her.

“What’s up, Shane?” Alice asks, her interest piqued.

Shane leans up against the patio table and says, “I know I asked you this once before, but I’m hoping you’ll do it again.” She pauses for a moment, and then asks, “Will you give me away?”

Alice smiles and hugs Shane. “Of course, I will.”
Shane wraps one arm around Alice’s back and hugs her back. “Thanks, Al.”

Letting go of Shane, Alice pulls back and says, half jokingly, as she punches Shane lightly on the shoulder, “You better not make me tell Molly that you’re not showing up though. I don’t think I can do that again.”

Shane drops her head and shakes it. “No. I’m not going to do that to Molly. This wedding will happen. Trust me.”
