Shane and Molly: A Love Story – Chapter 16
The morning sunlight streamed through the windows, bathing Shane in its glow. She closed her eyes tightly, trying to hide from its brightness. She rolls over and stretches her arm out, reaching for Molly. Finding her side of the bed empty, Shane pushes herself up and looks around the room, but Molly is not there.
“Moll?” Shane calls out. “Baby, you up?”
“Yeah, I’m right here, babe,” Molly says, as she opens the door, carrying a breakfast tray. “I made us breakfast.”
Smiling, Shane sits up and leans against the headboard. Molly, wearing nothing but Shane’s T-shirt from the night before and her panties, saunters over to the bed and places the tray across Shane’s lap. As Molly is about to walk around to the other side of the bed, Shane grabs her hand and pulls her to her. With her free hand, she tucks an errant strand of hair behind her ear, and kisses her tenderly. “I love you,” she breathes, as she kisses her again.
“I love you, too,” Molly says, as she holds Shane’s face in her hands. She presses her lips to Shane’s one more time before she climbs into bed beside her. She grabs a strip of bacon from the plate, takes a bite and happily says, “I can’t believe we’re engaged.”
Shane leans over to Molly and kisses her gently on the cheek. “Believe it.”
Molly smiles. She opens her mouth to say something, but thinks the better of it and instead takes another bite of her bacon.
Having picked up on Molly’s hesitation, Shane asks, “Moll, what is it?”
Molly lowers her head a bit and looking up at Shane asks, voice quavering a bit, “Are you absolutely sure this is what you want?”
Sitting straight up, Shane moves the tray from her lap to the end of the bed, and turns to face Molly. Taking her hands in hers, and lowering her head to be eye level with Molly, Shane says, “I’ve never been more sure of anything.”
“Yeah?” Molly asks, with a slight smile.
Nodding, Shane says, “Yeah.” She pauses for a moment, then says, “At your mother’s commitment ceremony, Joyce told me to ‘Trust in our love’ and that everything would work itself out. Trust isn’t something that comes easily to me, but I trust you and I trust in the love I have for you and the love you have for me. It’s real and it’s true and it’s always there in everything I do.” Having been touched by Shane’s words, a tear falls from Molly’s eye. Wiping the tear away, Shane says, “I want to spend my life with you.” She leans in and kisses Molly. “I want a lifetime of happiness with you.” She kisses her again. “I want a family with you.” Shane kisses her again, deeper this time, as she leans forward and pushes Molly to the bed. “I want–”
