Shadows in the Dark – A Writers Challenge

Alice’s words left both Tina and Bette in a stunned silence. The silence lasted only for a moment as Alice’s pronouncement sunk in.  They both went on to question Alice, a resounding ‘what’ coming from them both.  It was, however, Bette that continued clearly not in the mood for Alice’s antics.
“What the FUCK are you talking about? Get out of our bed and stop pulling Tina’s blanket off!” Bette ordered Alice in her best stern mother’s voice.
Alice desperately tried to hide under Bette and Tina’s covers. She had catapulted herself into their bed and found herself trapped between the sheets and the blanket.  She clawed at the blanket, pushing it further away from Tina. Tina knew for certain that if Alice continued, she would expose her bare breasts.
“Alice …. Alice stop!” Bette ordered once again, this time gaining Alice’s attention. All movement under the covers stopped.
“Alice what is this all about? This is way too early in the morning for all of your foolishness. What do you mean Jenny’s back?”
“The dingy … the dingy I saw her out in that damn dingy.” Alice screamed fighting back her tears.
Bette had heard enough, “Alice get the fuck out of our bed right now. I’m in no mood for you’re antics tonight now GET OUT.”
Tina realized that Alice was really frightened and gave Bette her best pleading look.  Bette rolled her eyes but surrendered quickly, rolling over fighting her urge to scream at Alice once more.  Tina immediately focused on Alice, trying anything she could to calm her down.
“Hey Alice, take it easy. I know you think you saw something, but Alice we are 3,000 miles away, in the dead of winter with snow all over the place. I don’t think anyone is outside in a dinghy, let alone Jenny. Honey she’s dead.” Tina says the last in almost a whisper.  Her voice held a soothing effect on Alice as she fought to catch her breath.
Alice snuggled into the covers, and once she was fully covered in them with the exception of her face, she risked making eye contact with Tina.
“But I saw her … Jenny it is her … I saw her.”
