    Carmen discovery of feelings for her roommate, Shane and Jenny

    Carmen: I can’t see her. (Crying) Shane I want to see her.

    Nurse: please wait over there ma’am

    Shane: come on Carmen let’s sit down

     

                  For the next couple of hours the four of them waited inside the room

    Carmen: you guys can leave. You don’t have to stay here.

    Shane: I’m not leaving you

    Carmen: you have too, jenny is waiting

    Alice: Tasha and I might leave

    Tasha: yeah, I got to go work in the morning.

    Carmen: Shane?

    Shane: yeah,

    Carmen: go home, be with jenny.

    Shane: I want to stay with you (rubbing her hands on her pants leg)

     

     

               Three hours went by, and the doctor came out of the emergency room, the doctor was

        walking up to Carmen and Shane

     

     

    Doctor: excuse me, ma’am

    Carmen: (wiping the sleep from her eyes) yes!

    Doctor: Sloan is still out of it. The medication has kicked in.

    Carmen: How is she?

    Doctor: Well, she broke her right ankle and managed to break two of her fingers on her right hand. She regained her consciousness but the tubes are still in her. She’s lucky.

     

    Carmen: can we go see her?

    Doctor: yes, you may

     

     

           Walking down the hallway of the ER, she saw EMTS standing there by Sloan’s curtain. Everyone was scattered all over the place.

     

    Carmen: (sliding the curtain open) Oh my god, (placing her hand over her mouth) Sloan,

     

                   Carmen winced and began to cry at the site of all the tubes coming out of her. Sloan still had the incubation tubes coming out of her mouth, tubes in her nose, there were tubes everywhere.

     

    Nurse: can you step outside please; we need to pull these tubes out. It will be just a few minutes

     

    Shane: (grabbing Carmen by the shoulders) come on Carmen, let them do their job

     

                 When Carmen entered the room, inside the ER, she just starred at her roommate. Carmen sat on a chair that was next to her bed. She could see Sloan had dried blood on her face, a black eye from the impact, a cast on one arm, a cast around her ankle and a catheter that just hung off the railing on the bed.     Carmen couldn’t believe it.
