    Ready When You Are Ch.12

Tina’s eyes reflected a hint of unease as the brunette looked up to meet her gaze.

"Bette…I need to tell you something." Tina said, staring down into her empty glass.

Bette placed a soft kiss on the blonde’s hand. "What is it T?"

Tina gazed into the brunette’s loving eyes and felt a slight calm wash over her.

"That phone-call I got…last night." Tina said, briefly looking down at the table. "It was from my dad. He was wondering why I was in Mexico…since I never told my family I was going." She looked back up at Bette.

The brunette furrowed her brow slightly. "Why didn’t you tell them?"

Tina took a deep breath. "I don’t know." She exhaled, once again looking down at the table.

There were a few seconds of silence as both women sat, refusing to break the contact between their hands on the table.

"Bette…I didn’t exactly tell you the whole story when I came back from my family dinner." Tina said quietly, lifting her head.

Bette squeezed the blonde’s hand slightly, urging her to continue.

"My family, Well, my dad, refused to accept my decision to be with you." Tina let out an indignant laugh, "He was so harsh Bette…I didn’t even recognise him."

Tina looked back up to meet Bette’s anxious gaze.

"Anyway…he said that as long as I was seeing you, I was no longer part of the family. So…I guess he was calling the other night to confirm that I’d made my decision."

Bette’s heart sank as she realised the turmoil her girlfriend must’ve been going through, as she had stood by, oblivious to it all. Tina offered a soft smile as she gently stroked the back of the Bette’s hand, watching the brunette’s face intently as she processed this information.

Bette took a shaky breath and exhaled, staring deep into Tina’s conflicted hazel eyes.

"Tina…I love you more than anything else in this world." Bette could feel her face becoming flushed as her emotions made their way to the surface. "But…I would never make you chose between me and your family. I can’t…" She trailed off.

Tina leaned across the table and gently grasped the brunette’s other hand, cupping both her girlfriend’s hands within her own.

    1. Wauw I really didn´t expect that call, rather the beginning of a romantic evening. So you like drama, well drama is okay, but not too much, okay. PPS

    2. UGH! How could you do that to us? I was so happy..loving that nice, romantic dinner and then bam..you bring the drama. I hope Tina doesn’t feel the “guilt” PPS

    3. Drama central indeed I’m sure everything will be alright hopefully though tina isnt swayed by her family to live a life without bette simply out if obligation

    4. So, Tina’s father was ill when he called her at 2am, and despite his diagnosis, he offered her no acceptance, but only wanted her to come home so she could be “fixed”. Being at sick doesn’t give one a pass. Being so harsh and saying hurtful things to someone you supposedly love when you KNOW you have a limited time left is just not on. Tina can go back home to say whatever to her father, but I think she should take Bette with her. She should show him how and with whom she’s going to be living her life, who she’s chosen. If he can’t accept her with that, it’s his loss, not Tina’s. Great story, Hardy, thanks for posting.

    5. Do Tina’s parents have some sort of GPS wired to Tina?? How are they always finding her?? lol Sucks that her father is sick, but I hope they don’t try to make her break up with Bette. I think Tina needs to let Bette be there for her, she needs a shoulder to cry on, it’s horrible to be in it alone. Anyway on to the next post, I’m dying to find out what’s gonna happen:)

    6. I just caught up. One step forward and 2 steps back seems to be the theme of life these days. I hope all goes well with Tina and her trip to see her father. I hope for Tina’s sake that he does not make it difficult for and make her promise to change.

    7. Talk about a momentum killer… I really feel for both of them. Tina with her father being ill and being torn between her love for Bette and her family’s lack of acceptance; Bette feeling so close Tina and yet being so far away. Holding out for brighter days ahead!

    8. That sucks!!!!! I hope Tina’s father does not make her feel guilty about being with Bette and has her living a normal, unfulfilled life with someone else. I hope Bette does not get hurt and becomes strong for Tina. Great update. For a minute there, I thought they were going to have a romantic evening. Thanks for crushing my heart. LOL PPS

    9. its really sad to hear about Tina dad but I hope this “making it right” does not fall on Tina’s shoulders as to that equaling living a “”Normal Straight life””.. her dad should be making it right just incase its his time to go!!
