    Purest of Pain (Chpt. 11)

When the sun had started to rise a few more people were present. They waited at the bus stops on the different legs of the journey into work thankful that the weekend was only a day away. Bette thought to herself that these were the people that kept this city moving, those who were up before the sun and whose day started long before the first cup of coffee was served.

She had been sat in her car thinking these thoughts as she watched a young Hispanic man. He was leant against the bus stop reading what looked like a textbook of some kind although he was dressed more ready for work rather than school. He looked tired as he read his book, ate a chocolate bar which was possibly his breakfast, and waited for his bus. A bus pulled up and he looked up from his book and a smile came across his face as a young girl stepped off the bus.

She smiled back and hugged him as they stood together. He put the book in his bag and they began to talk. Bette found herself smiling at the sight. He seemed less tired with her there. The sun was still only halfway up in the sky and the light it cast on them seemed to fill the air with a hope that anything could happen. It had been too long since Bette had seen anything in this light.

A knock on her window interrupted her thoughts. She turned her head away from the happy couple and saw Shane looking into her car, seemingly less than pleased to see her. Shane stood back up and stepped to the side leaning against the side of the car she had recognised as Bette’s as soon as she had turned the corner. What she did not know was why she was there.

Bette paused a moment. She had come there to speak to Shane but had hoped that she would see Shane coming out of her apartment so she could decide how exactly to approach her. Of course things had not changed so much that Shane was still keeping late night habits and was obviously on her way home from somewhere and someone. The how was out of her hands now, but Shane had not walked away when she saw Bette’s car so Bette realised that she must be willing to listen to what it was she had to say. With that knowledge Bette took a deep breath and stepped out of the car.

    1. Time like this, I really want to slap Bette to wake up. I hate to see Tina hurt, I hate to see Bette hurt by hurting Tina, but not knowing what to do.

    2. Hey, G. Just caugth up on the last 2 chapters. I like that Bette is asking for help. Who better than Yoda to do that, even though Yoda seems to be having her own little problem to deal with. I hate to see Tina hurting so badly too. Bette needs to go after Tina but she’s so lost. And she needs someone to point out some very obvious reasons that she has forgotten and has lost track of. Thanks for the update.

    3. This is early on in the separation, and when Bette should have originally gone after Tina, and since we can do it all over again. Then Bette, stop being such an asshole and go get your wife.

    4. Good chapter. Still sad to see them like this and now its time for Bette to stop and go looking for Tina and hope Shane will help her with it. Ok let see what’s next, thanks!
