    Purest of Pain (Chpt. 11)

    Chapter 11

It must have been nearly six o’clock when Bette’s car finally stopped after she had been driving around all night. She was tired, but like so many things lately her driving was done on autopilot. Normally it would lead her from her office to the house, or from the house to Candace’s place, never knowing how she got from one place to another. These last few nights, ever since the dinner at the Four Seasons that Peggy had held for her in fact, it had led her here.

The two weeks that Tina had not been home had felt like two years, and the last two nights since the dinner had felt like two months. Bette tried to reason with herself that it was because she had spoken with Janet about Tina that she had been so present in her thoughts. Present? She was all she ever thought about. It seemed everything reminded her of Tina.

It was only when she was in Candace’s arms that her mind did not ask her what Tina was doing at that moment. But in the stillness, when she lay in Candace’s bed they would be with her once again. Though her nightly trips to Candace’s home had not changed she had not spent the night there, using the excuse of early morning meetings. As always, Candace was willing to believe what Bette told her.

She had seen how dedicated Bette was to the CAC and known she had only grown busier since Provocations opened. Candace knew how important her career was to Bette and thought that the competing demands of her life with Tina must have contributed significantly to the end of their relationship. How they had ended was not chief amongst her concerns, she was only eager to know about it so that she would not repeat their mistakes.

Yolanda had warned her about Bette. She had seen her and Tina together and though she had seen that there was a lot within that relationship that was wrong she had also seen how committed they were to each other. They had, for whatever reason, decided to start a family together and despite what the current jokes were that was not a decision someone like Bette would make lightly.

    1. Time like this, I really want to slap Bette to wake up. I hate to see Tina hurt, I hate to see Bette hurt by hurting Tina, but not knowing what to do.

    2. Hey, G. Just caugth up on the last 2 chapters. I like that Bette is asking for help. Who better than Yoda to do that, even though Yoda seems to be having her own little problem to deal with. I hate to see Tina hurting so badly too. Bette needs to go after Tina but she’s so lost. And she needs someone to point out some very obvious reasons that she has forgotten and has lost track of. Thanks for the update.

    3. This is early on in the separation, and when Bette should have originally gone after Tina, and since we can do it all over again. Then Bette, stop being such an asshole and go get your wife.

    4. Good chapter. Still sad to see them like this and now its time for Bette to stop and go looking for Tina and hope Shane will help her with it. Ok let see what’s next, thanks!
