Out of Closet (TiBette time-travel romance), Ch. 68, Finale part 4D: Last curtain – Epilogue
Bette exhaled loudly and smiled, “Well, thank you for the good news. I’ll send you a message sometime in the new year to get together at the Planet. Tina still has your card.”
Agent McKinnon nodded, “Please do. Have a good day, ladies. I hope from now on I would only see you in strictly personal surroundings.” She winked and left.
A few minutes after the FBI agent left, Alice burst in with excitement written all over her face. She held a stack of papers in her hand. “Guess what I found?”
Tina looked at Bette and smiled, “A recipe for the most delicious olive oil cake?”
“A will from your great-great uncle leaving you a ton of money?” Bette joined in.
“A treasure map to find the hidden ancient Inca’s gold?” Tina added.
“No, but that would be awesome,” Alice replied, shaking her head. “I went to the archives to check on the Orange Tribune articles published between October and December of 1886. I found an article about a bar brawl that happened on November 1, 1886. Listen to this,” Alice cleared her throat and began reading dramatically, “‘As we were following the local news, let us bring to your attention that there was seemingly nothing unusual about the fatal bar brawl that happened last night. Those things happened more often than anyone thinks, even in the most conservative neck of the woods. What made it news worthy was the fact that the poor simpleton that started a fist fight with a local gunfighter was a traveling companion of a baroness Helena von Peabody, Lady of Yorkshire. She was a British royalty visiting from England on her way to the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. The hotel was opened about eleven year ago, featuring magnificent architecture, crystal chandeliers in its foyer and was structured after the finest hotels in Europe. When the hotel finally opened its door with a great fanfare, it attracted many rich and famous visiting San Francisco. The Baroness merely stopped at the local tavern for meals and refreshments. Her traveling companion was a small dark woman dressed in farmer’s overalls. The men at the bar perhaps had a few too many shots of whiskey and one of the commented on the poor girl’s look and outfit. The Baroness’ companion jumped to her feet and unwisely challenged one of the men to a fist fight. Unfortunately, when the fight started, the whole bar went crazy and then the gun fight erupted. The Baroness and her companion, whose name we will never know, were sadly among the casualties. Since they both were strangers in town with no relatives or friends, they were buried at the town cemetery. Maxine Porter, the famous local benefactor and all-around saint of a woman, paid for their funerals out of kindness of her generous heart’.”

I’m very glad that you were be able to finish this amazing story, so thank you!
And yeah, i was right, it was Helena. So, i think they both deserved what they have.
And once again – Happy Birthday!
And maybe on the next Birthday you’ll start the new story, why not? :)
Thank you…it was a good birthday and i’m glad i was able to finish the story…i’ll see about the next one, i have some ideas ;)
Very nice story…. Going back to the 20th century would not be pleasant for anyone, even with someone with money like Helena Peabody. I cannot imagine that Candace and Helena got along all that well. Too bad about the bar brawl.
Glad to see a happily ever after for Bette and Tina. Love your Alice… Plan C finally worked evidently…
Thank you for the story….
Thank you for the Epilogue and, more importantly, for finishing this brilliant Story. I have read it more than once over the years and can see myself doing it again.
