Out of Closet (TiBette time-travel romance), Ch. 68, Finale part 4D: Last curtain – Epilogue
The two of them finally walked out of the dark closet to the morning sunlight of a new day in the old century. Nobody was around. They strode to the grove and sat down on the bench in the gazebo. Helena shoveled her hands into the cloak pockets in frustration and noticed the envelope she picked up from the ground earlier, as she followed Tina. She slowly took the crumbled paper out and stared at it for a while. The handwriting on the envelope was a very elegant cursive. Helena knew immediately it was written by Bette Porter. Elegant and sophisticated, just like woman herself.
“What’s this?” Candace pointed at the envelope. She kept looking around with curiosity and awareness, watching her surroundings like a panther on the hunt for a pray.
Helena shrugged and slowly opened the envelope, avoiding looking into Candace’s eyes. Inside was a letter written in the same cursive with flourishing loops and twists.
‘I’m sure it will come as a shock to you two, but Tina and I had no intention to go anywhere. I’m, for one, happened to very much like the 21st Century and my new home. I do sincerely hope that you will enjoy your stay here. It’s not as bad as the Little House on the Prairie, as Alice keep saying. At least, that’s what I think. I could be wrong. You can try to come back in three months, if you believe in miracles, or if the science is wrong. Until then, have a wonderful time. P.S. Beware of Clarice.”
They looked at each other. “Clarice…who is Clarice?” Candace whispered and looked around in fear, as if expecting the said Clarice to jump out from behind the trees.
“What the hell happened?” Helena repeated again, still in shock that her carefully laid out plan failed. The Peabody family never failed. They always won…until now.
“How the hell do I know what happened? You were supposed to be the brains in this operation. I’m just the hired muscle, remember?”
“Don’t be a smart arse. We need to figure out how to get out of here.”
“This house?”
“Oh my God. You cannot be possibly that stupid,” Helena raised her arms in frustration. “Not this house…this century.”

I’m very glad that you were be able to finish this amazing story, so thank you!
And yeah, i was right, it was Helena. So, i think they both deserved what they have.
And once again – Happy Birthday!
And maybe on the next Birthday you’ll start the new story, why not? :)
Thank you…it was a good birthday and i’m glad i was able to finish the story…i’ll see about the next one, i have some ideas ;)
Very nice story…. Going back to the 20th century would not be pleasant for anyone, even with someone with money like Helena Peabody. I cannot imagine that Candace and Helena got along all that well. Too bad about the bar brawl.
Glad to see a happily ever after for Bette and Tina. Love your Alice… Plan C finally worked evidently…
Thank you for the story….
Thank you for the Epilogue and, more importantly, for finishing this brilliant Story. I have read it more than once over the years and can see myself doing it again.
