Out of Closet (TiBette time-travel romance), Ch. 68, Finale part 4C: Chapter: Last curtain – The End is Here, finally.

“You don’t say,” Alice scratched her head. “That sneaky bitch. Are you sure that Helena is telling the truth? I never trust the Brits, especially the ones with their fancy accent and fancy clothes and way too strong of the perfume.”

Tina laughed quietly. Alice always could find a way to make her smile, even in some scary situations. “Not sure but it’s a possibility. Franklin was pretty sure the letter was destroyed by the bleach that his technician Adam accidentally knocked over.” She thought for a moment. “He said that Adam was gone for about five minutes to get the x-ray machine. Five minutes is plenty for Candace to sneak into the lab, substitute the original letter for some similar piece of paper and pour the bleach over it. Yes, it is possible.”

“I repeat again, that sneaky bitch,” Alice shot her phone off and said quietly, “We need to hide the rest of the letters. I know just the place.”

She didn’t have a chance to elaborate on the perfect place she had in mind when Agent Johnson came into the room and let them know it was Alice’s turn now. Bette looked a little pale and shaken but otherwise not too panicky. She quickly moved into Tina’s awaiting arms and rested her head on her lover’s shoulder. “Thank you for being here. It makes everything bearable with you by my side.”

Tina’s arms tightened around the trembling brunette and she gently kissed her forehead, “I’m always here for you. No matter what. I love you.”

“I love you too,” Bette whispered.

“Sweet lord Jesus,” agent Johnson mumbled as he watched them with disgust written all over his face. Agent McKinnon walked in and his expression swiftly change into a forced smile. He was not quick enough for his partner to miss the hatred and she sighed. “Come on, Johnson, give them some privacy, would you?”

“Whatever,” he grumbled and left the room, slamming the door behind him. Agent McKinnon looked at them apologetically and Tina couldn’t help but ask, “Why is he your partner? He clearly hates lesbians or maybe just women in general.”

Agent McKinnon replied with a shrug, “He’s not too bad. He’s just bitter because his wife had left him for a woman. He never talks about it but everyone in the department knows. I think they partnered us so I could keep an eye on him.” She smiled, though it didn’t reach her eyes. “He tolerates me so it’s something.”

    1. Thank you for the chapter!

But ohhh – no. I’m hopping Candace grabbing not Bette’s hand, but Helena’s. Both brunettes, both in dark cloaks. It could be, isn’t it?

Please post soon, we need epilogue ASAP! :)

    2. Is this really the end? Not exactly a happily ever after ending in my opinion….

I think Alice’s explanation to the FBI is perfectly feasible. I would think that the FBI would have not put their criminal investigators on a case of claimed time travel but a special division who dealt with phenomena which were rumored to exist for which was not generally accept principles of nature – such as flying sauces, Big Foot, time travel, and aliens, etc. I would expect that the FBI would treat people like Helena and the Professor as slightly off their rocker…but this is fiction.

Now… I’m not sure that Bette and Tina have much control on where this portal takes them, but I assume its a single opening and a single exit. And reading about life in the 19th century and living it are two different things. Living in a community without electricity, indoor pluming, shoes designed to be worn on a left or right foot, no communication devices, and a life where the vast majority of time is spent acquiring money or food. A society where women are not just 2nd class citizens but for the most house holds domestic servants to men. A society in which homosexual attraction has to be hidden and never acknowledged even to the closest family member. And of course, the skill set need by Bette and Tina to survive? Being odd is not going to be their only problem. I’m not sure when you look at how hard that life would be, that running from the likes of Helena, Candace and the Professor is not a much better option.

Your story is unique and has been very entertaining. I for one have found the concept of time travel to be fascinating. But the thought of going to a time that was not my own and be trapped indefinitely would be terrifying. Bette finding Tina was her saving grace and was the only way she could truly survive the experience. But even this was not permenant, Bette had some ability to go back and then return. But my understanding is that the portal closes permanently with this last trip. At least that is what the Professor is predicting based on some science principles which have yet to be tested much less proven.

I know you have spent years writing this. I do appreciate it. I do hope that you do an epilogue and not leave us with a cliffhanger as to what actually happened. Our girls deserve a happy, peaceful and normal life.

      Thanks for the story…

      • Thank you for the insightful comment. Yes, the last chapter was not the actual finale, that’s why the epilogue is coming up. Apart from being a teaser (a little bit ;) ) I also wanted to stay true to my story (the way some of my chapters were structured in the past.) Thank you for reading, i really appreciate it

      • Haha, you put that idea into my head when you suggested 50 parts of the finale. Alas, i can only manage 4. The epilogue is coming and that will a final end to the story. I really appreciate your comments. Honestly, one of the earlier comments you made (maybe 10-15 chapters ago (which probably puts it 5 years ago LOL), is one of the reasons that made me going…the other reason that i’m a stubborn foreigner that wouldn’t just never give up…thank you
