Out of Closet (B&T time-travel romance), Ch. 54

“You wouldn’t dare,” Candace’s smile turned into a sneer. “My crew is the best in town and most reasonable.”

“It maybe so but the fact remains…you’re replaceable and dispensable, so take it to your consideration before you try something like this again in the future.”

Candace growled in frustration but finally came to her senses, “Whatever you say, Bette. It’s not worth losing my job over you.”

She left, mumbling to herself as soon as she was out of Bette’s earshot, “I don’t give up that easy, Miss Classy and Noble. You don’t know me. Revenge is my middle name.”

    Meanwhile, at the Alphaville Studios

Tina spent all morning attending various departmental meetings, discussing the specifics for her documentary series. The research department staff has been busy already, researching the material for the future episodes. Tina checked on their progress, and after leaving instructions with Dylan, she was finally free to take a break.

“Jenny, I’m heading out for lunch. Please forward all business calls to my cell.”

Her assistant, Jenny, just nodded, too busy typing on her computer and Tina left, knowing that all the important things were taken care of.

The sun outside was bright and hot but the afternoon breeze provided desired coolness in the spring air. Tina stopped at one of her favorite cafes for sandwiches and salads, and headed to the CAC. She couldn’t stop smiling as she entered the museum at the thought of seeing her girlfriend in a few minutes. It was weird but she always missed Bette, no matter if they were apart for hours or days.

Tina’s smile faded when she saw Candace the Carpenter leaving Bette’s office, mumbling something to herself.

Tina watched her go and shook her head, “That bitch, does she ever listen?”

As soon as Candace left, Bette put her glasses on and went back to work. Another knock on a door interrupted her already hectic morning and Bette sighed again, trying to keep her frustration in check. “I told you to leave me alone.”

“Are you sure?” Tina smiled as she walked in.

“Oh, sorry, Tee. I thought it was Candace. She’s been bothering me earlier.”
