Out of Closet (B&T time-travel romance), Ch. 40
“No, Kit, it’s perfect, just perfect,” Bette smiled, giving Kit a hug. “Are you staying for breakfast?” she finished, wiping tears and leaning down to smell the buns in the pan.
“No, I’ll finish up here in a minute and then I’m going back to see daddy.”
“Kit, you are the greatest. I love you,” Bette said happily, “I’m going to wake up Tina. See you later, big sister.”
Bette ran back to the bedroom, her bare feet making squeaky sounds on the hardwood floor. She jumped back on the bed and began shaking Tina.
“Tina, baby, wake up, wake up…it’s Christmas,” she was whispering elatedly. She felt like a 10-year old kid again, impatient, excited and giddy.
Tina murmured something in her sleep and snuggled closer to Bette. “Tee, wake up…” Bette said louder into Tina’s ear and then softly licked a spot right behind it.
Tina moaned and slowly opened her eyes. “Bette, what time is it?” she asked groggily.
“It’s Christmas time, babe. Can you smell it?” Bette said excitedly, impatient for Tina to go down and spend time opening presents and trying her favorite holiday breakfast.
“Are you my Christmas present?” Tina asked teasingly, “Because I can smell you and the scent is intoxicating, baby.” Tina smiled, enticed by Bette’s giddiness.
“No, silly…” Bette laughed, “Kit’s here and she made us fresh buns with ginger and peppermint tea. Thanks for telling her, baby.” She leaned and gently kissed Tina on her lips.
“Welcome, honey. I wanted you to have a prefect Christmas,” Tina said, secretly relieved that Bette liked her idea of recreating her family Christmas morning.
“All I want for Christmas is you, Ms. Kennard but if you come with a little bonus, I don’t mind it,” Bette smiled, pulling Tina closer. “Come on, let’s go and have some tea and open presents. I can’t wait to tell you about a dream I had last night.”
They ran to the living room like a couple of kids excited to open their presents and both stopped dead in their tracks when they saw the coffee table decorated with candles and a tea tray. The ginger buns were still hot and smelled heavenly. Kit left them a note that she would be back later for their family dinner.
