Chapter 40: Let’s sing: Faithful friends who are dear to us gather near to us once more (Have yourself a Merry little Christmas)

(Previously) “Pa-leese…” Alice uttered, “I remember one time when you thought I looked cute in my maid’s uniform.”

“And I have no doubts that you used that uniform to its full advantage to involve Dana is some freaky role-playing,” Bette laughed and Dana cheeks turned instantly red as an answer to Bette’s retort.

Alice muttered something under her breath and everybody laughed, which made Dana’s face even redder.

“Alice, you are charming and hysterical but I love Tina. Tina is the only one I want to think of in that way,” Bette said, emphasizing the word ‘that’.

“Amen,” Shane said with a smile and raised her eggnog glass. Just then the clock begin chiming, announcing the approach of midnight.

All the girls raised their glasses as well, “To love, friendship and Merry Christmas to all!!!”

Place: Los Angeles, CA – Tina’s house

Year: Dec. 25, 2005 – Sunday, Christmas morning

10-year old Lizzie was sitting under the Christmas tree with Katie, opening presents and smelling the aroma of freshly baked bread and ginger in the air. Lizzie opened her first present and saw that her parents gave her a really pretty doll for Christmas. The doll had soft blond hair, big brown eyes, curvy red lips and rosy cheeks.

“Do you like your new friend, Lizzie?” Katie asked, smiling at her little sister and opening her own present, a book of fairytales by Brothers Grimm.

“I really like her, she looks like an angel. What did you get there, Katie?” Lizzie asked curiously, peeking at the book.

“Your new bedtime stories,” Katie smiled again, knowing that every book she had ever gotten always ended in her sister’s bedroom.

Lizzie jumped into Katie’s arms and looked at her with big puppy dog eyes, “Will you read some to me tonight, Katie? Will you, please?”

“Okay, okay, I will,” Katie laughed, “You know I can’t refuse you anything when you look at me like that and beg.”

“I know,” Lizzie laughed and hugged her big sister really tight.
