Out of Closet (B&T time-travel romance), Ch. 28, Part 3

“What does she want to know now?” Bette asked with clear confusion in her voice.

“Don’t worry about it. This is Alice we’re talking about…Alice who wants to know everybody’s business. I’m surprised it actually took her this long to mention it. I thought she would be on my front steps everyday, asking for updates,” Tina laughed and took Bette’s hand. “Let’s go home.”

Place: Los Angeles, CA – Tina’s house

    Year: Oct. 31, 2005 – Monday

When they finally got home, Bette went straight to the bedroom and changed for bed.

“Bette, I’m going to make dinner in about 30 min, do you want anything special?” Tina asked, walking into the bedroom couple of minutes after Bette.

“I’m not hungry. I want to lie down for a while,” Bette said tiredly, feeling herself emotionally spent.

“What’s wrong, baby?” Tina asked with concern. She sat down on the edge of the bed and pulled Bette into her arms.

“I don’t know…all those paintings…they are so beautiful. I was painting some for my mother’s annual art festival, you know but I never finished any of them,” Bette said regretfully, feeling her tears approaching. “I miss them but I’m pretty sure that they are lost now…so many years had pass.”

“Maybe not,” Tina replied and Bette looked at her questionably.

    “What do you mean?”

“Well, let just say that there’s a possibility that the paintings might be somewhere safe,” Tina answered cryptically, remembering that according to Maxine’s Will, the paintings were left to Christina Kennard with the stipulation that she should keep them in her family. “I’m going to call my sister and see if she knows what could have happened to them. Maybe I can even talk to my grandma. I hope she could still remember something about it, even at her stage.”

‘Could it be that all the paintings were stored in that huge chest in the attic all along but as soon as I found my miniature, nothing else mattered to me?’ Tina thought, desperately wishing that her sister will have all the answers.

“What is wrong with your grandma?” Bette asked, closing her eyes and snuggling closer to Tina.

    2. Never boring BT&F…I’m a big fan of this story and look for it every week. You always write a B&TF love story, but you put time, effort and a lot of creativity in designing the story you put them in. I can’t wait for the next update!

    3. This was very good indeed. I really like this story, B&TF ! You rock ! Oh, and I must confess I once again laughed my a$$ off at the comment about the “slutty carpenter” ! Hahaha ! Keep up th fantastic job, B&TF, you’re doing great.

    4. This is so good. I am glad that they are taking it slow even though it is driving Bette and Tina (and the readers) crazy. Yes please keep the slutty carpenter away from Bette.

    5. Hehehe… It’s becoming harder and harder to resist, huh Bette? But I guess it’s a good thing since she really needs to be ready. It will make it even more special and wonderful. I also love Bette’s little shots at humor with Tina, it’s really endearing. And if it’s endearing to me, I can only imagine what it does to Tina, LOL. Anyway, great update B&TF, thanks. PPS!

    6. And by the way, thanks a lot for your reply, I’ll be looking forward to every chapter of this wonderful ride you’ve taken us on. K ;)

    7. Another wonderful chapter. I love the exposition–hunting for the clues, wondering which are red herrings, the layered presentation of Bette and Tina’s feekings for each other and Bette’s conflicting interactions with the world. The layering adds great depth and complexity and mske your story so very very good.
