One Or The Other – Chapter 4
“How’s your new job?” she asked as she turned to face Bette.
It took Bette a moment to realize Tina had asked her a question. “Exhilarating.”
Tina shifted to look at the brunette. There was an unmistakable sparkle in the woman’s eyes. “You love your new job.”
“I do,” Bette spoke softly. “Being at CU gave me a new perspective on art. It truly is an honor to guide the future.”
“Sure helps to have a dean as passionate as you.” Tina didn’t bother to add as beautiful. That part was acknowledged. “They’re lucky to have you.”
Bette smiled. “Their enthusiasm rubs off on me, too. Though I wished it would work when paperwork is involved.”
A soft snort escaped Tina’s lips. “Without flaws, there would be no perfection.”
“Without perfection, there would be no flaws,” Bette countered.
“So is the flaw the egg or the chicken?” Tina easily kept up with the flow. The script in her hand was all but forgotten.
“I don’t know. Which came first?”
Tina chuckled. “That’s like asking where God is.”
“God is everywhere,” Bette’s smooth answer caught Tina by surprise.
She didn’t notice the brunette had tensed up immediately. The silence grew, and Tina was trying hard to understand the hitch until realization hit. “Remnants from your retreat?”
Bette nodded solemnly. They both didn’t need that particular trip down memory lane. “Alice probably could explain it better.”
“I’m fairly certain Alice can come up with different ways to talk about lesbian sex to the Pope if given the chance.”
“How horrifying.”
“The pope or Alice?” Tina deadpanned.
“Both.” Bette dropped her shoulders minutely. “The image of Alice trying to explain female intimacy to El Papa is like nails on chalkboard.”
“Knowing our dear friend, she’d try to hang up a rainbow flag on the balcony as they escort her out of the Vatican.”
Her guffaw startled both of them. Bette tried to control her laughter, her breaths in short gasps. “She’d plaster the Vatican walls with rainbow flags just to spite them for throwing her out, too.”
Tina’s laughter died down as Bette shifted slightly in her seat. She watched as Bette maneuvered her into a sitting position. “It’s late.”

There is so much going on in this story, I’m worried that Bette won’t give her full attention to Tina and trying. But Tina has to back down and be more real regardless of her panic about the senator. I don’t see a smooth path for them in the near future. Please Post soon.
The sparkle is always their. Lets hope Bette can realize that before its too late.
Maybe with the help of therapy, they can polish that sparkle to a full-blown shine. There’s a lot at stake, but Tina really needs to give Bette a minute to breathe. Thanks for the post, sky.
Let them do whatever its to work thing out, please let them get back together soon. Please post more, thanks!
Glad your back, great update! Love the witty talk between the two of them. Hope you can update soon.
I don’t know enough about this story to comment. Now going back to read the other 3 chapters. Back real soon to comment. I do see that Bette is avoiding talking to Tina about their reconnection when Tina obviously wants that reconnection. As usual Bette is running to avoid talking. Post when you cn.
that was beautiful..i don’t know if ur gonna put them back together but…lets c..would love for Barbara to b connected somehow, coz her and bette has so much chemistry..please do something about this(smile)
They’ve both been burnrd badly by their past but with continued communication and the therapy they can overcome the past and become the strong family unit they both so desperately want and deserve. Afraid I disagree with gumbsee40, Barbara does NOT need to be involved, Bette is much too vulnerable too Barbara. Putting her within close proximity to Bette would be like adding oil & fire together, the flame would re-assert itself and engulf them and Tina would be left out in the cold. Barbara is gone and she needs to stay gone, nothing good would come of her being back. Bette needs to concentrate on Tina and their family as her only source of love and affection. PPVS
A couple the girls said, “it is hard to deny that sparkle.” Indeed it is, and Angie’s illness is showing them exactly that. Her little undiagnosed illness is the ignition to ignite that sparkle or flame of love between them. Angelica is the cataltst to bring them back together into a lasting love and relationship. Children can sense things and although she doesn’t know it she is the catalyst that will bring them together.
glad you enjoyed Finland but even more excited you are back with us. pps
Beautifully written. Thanks for posting!

Bette and Tina do lvoe each other and are fully connected to each other. They do just need some time to sort those the mistakes of their past, to learn from them and make the future a solid and safe place for Angelica. Can’t wait for more of this amorous adventure. Please make it soon. Many thanks from Your Loyal Fan.
Of course they have to get together again…therapy or whatever; they must be together. PPS
