Tea was hilarious with all three in silly moods, Bette couldn’t remember the last time she had enjoyed her birthday as much as this one. She looked at the two females who had made this day special – Angie was only 4 but she was obviously going to be someone to take notice of. She was confident, smart and very loving. Bette also saw her flaws – she liked her own way, she was as untidy as Bette was tidy and she was also far too perceptive about Bette and Tina’s relationship – a sort of cross between Alice’s inquisitiveness with Shane’s insightfulness.

Tina had become more beautiful with age – she was as grounded as always. Bette could see her insecurities as well – she hadn’t enjoyed being without Bette for 5 years and putting on a brave face had been tough. Having a series of lovers had made her more wary – more cynical – but she had also fallen for Bette as hard as she had 13 years ago. That was two way – Bette still got goose-bumps everywhere when she looked at the blonde she had loved exclusively for so long. Bette was brought back to reality by Tina coming through carrying Bette’s birthday cake. She put it down

“Blow out the candles and make a wish “

“But don’t tell anyone what your wish is “ Angie added

Bette looked at Tina – they both knew what Bette’s wish was – saying it out loud wasn’t needed, Bette blew the candles out and Angie and Tina clapped and cheered.

“Thank you “ Bette said again “This is a wonderful birthday “

“Mine is next “

“You might have mentioned it once or twice “ Tina said dryly

“You tell me as many times as you like Angie “ Bette said laughing

“Why don’t you turn the computer on and find that site that I now have ten games credits for and we can download a couple for you to try “ Bette suggested to Angie

“Can I mommy ?” Angie looked at Tina
