NEW YORK MINUTE
CHAPTER 87
Tina swallowed hard and hoped that she wasn’t going to cry. She looked down at the table and counted to 10 and then 20. When she looked up part of her expected her parents to be looking at her in judgement. Instead they were obviously concerned. It was an unexpected reaction and Tina couldn’t stop her tears
“I don’t want you to think that I am perfect. I am not – I have messed up my life a lot of times but now I have something so special with Bette. I hurt her and I kept the fact that she had a daughter from her – that makes me a bitch “
Her mother reached over and touched Tina’s hand
“It must have been hard for you to be a single mom for so long – I can relate to that “
Tina nodded “I know – I could have used having a mom in my life when I was scared to death about being pregnant and how the hell I was going to bring up my child alone “
“I assume that you have forgiven Bette for her infidelity ?” Tina’s dad asked
“I don’t regard it as anything that she has to get my forgiveness for. We both messed up. She is – was a very alpha personality and she was working in a horrendously tough environment with a very hostile Chairman of the Board of trustees. She felt that she had to be strong and not show her feelings. She bottled it up and it exploded in the worst possible way. Lots has happened since – we are both wiser people.”
“So you got together only 12 months ago ?”
“Yes – Bette has a half sister called Kit. She was getting married and Bette flew across from New York. Seeing her again – seeing her made me realise what we had then and at the very least she deserved to know her daughter “
“Can I ask you something ?”
“Sure “
“Why do you call her Bette’s daughter ?”
“Because she is the little girl that we dreamed about .. When I had a miscarriage – she was devastated – she didn’t show it. She kept going – she kept going through all the daily shit that she was getting at work. I grieved and I cried and I broke my heart with my friends. But there was always this perception that Bette didn’t need consoling. And I bought into that – I cannot help thinking that if I had seen her pain – if I had realised how much she was hurting. Maybe I could have stopped her – maybe I could have acknowledged her pain and she wouldn’t have made the mistake that she did. “

This is one of my favorite stories,I love the relationship that these two have developed over the last year, it is so beleivable. I am so ready to read how Angie will react to her new grandparents.
Hi AllyE, Thank you for another emotional rollercoaster of double chapters. It was so pleasing to have Tina beginning the healing process with her parents. Yes, it is a long and arduous journey but so worth the effort. I totally agree that Bette and Tina are doing the right thing re Angelica. Now isn’t the time for introductions to her grandparents.. Better to lay true foundations first and then build their relationship. Once home, Bette was the perfect girlfriend – letting Tina set the pace and reveal her fears and hopes for the future. Having Tina apologize for bringing up Candace was an adult action. Too much of their past involved keeping everything to themselves then letting it fester until it became impossible to mend. Better to get things out in the open and work through them. Yes, it isn’t always easy or a quick fix but it does get them sorted and back together. More please coz a hot and heavy love making session is the perfect relaxation aid. Many thanks from Your Loyal Fan.
