Dana – Would you quit looking under the bed, Al.

Alice – I thought I saw something.

Dana – You’re just being paranoid. This is one of the best hotels in L.A. It’s clean and it’s safe.

Alice – Well, I thought your house was safe and look how wrong I was about that. They say if you see one mouse then there has to be more. And this is worse, it’s a rat, Dana. I hate to think how many more there are.

Dana – The exterminator will be there tomorrow. We won’t go back until they trap the damn thing.

Alice – What was with your cat? I thought all cats are good at catching mice.

Dana – That wasn’t a mouse. Did you see the size of that thing? It could’ve eaten my cat for dinner.

Alice – Okay, Okay… Stop already. You’re not making me feel better. I don’t feel safe anywhere right now.

Dana – Everything is going to be okay, babe. Let’s go to bed. You’ll be safe with me. Aren’t I always there for you?

Alice – Yes, you are.

Dana – I promise that I’ll hold you all night. I’ll only get up when I have to go pee.

Alice gave her a serious look.

Dana – Really, Al? Are you that scared?

Alice – Of course not…. I just hate things that scurry in the dark, like that huge fucking rat.

Dana – Maybe we both need to get our minds off the topic. Find a nice romantic movie. Here’s the remote. I have to go to the bathroom. I’ll be back before you get a chance to miss me.

Dana gets out of bed and heads to the bathroom, while Alice turns on the television and starts flipping through channels. Truthfully, she didn’t want to watch TV. She didn’t know what she wanted. Dana walking across the room towards her made her mind shift to something more positive. Seeing her well -toned and tanned physique reminded her how incredibly attractive she was. She had always been this way but it was amazing that she hadn’t noticed it all those years they had been friends first.

Her personality was just as attractive, down to that sweet goofy side that came out so naturally. She could also have this dominating adventurous side like the time that she became overcome with emotion and attacked her at the house. Admittedly it did scare her a little, the reaction that she drew from her. Alice never expected such aggressive behavior and then the eventual breakdown afterwards that had her sobbing uncontrollably. There were definitely things about her that she didn’t know and still had yet to learn.
