Loving Jenny – Chapter 8: The Truth
“We…we slept together.” Tina’s mouth opened in shock, but when Bette looked at her, she closed it. Whether or not Bette felt the same way Tina did was unclear. Instead, she leaned forward again, locking eyes with me.
“You slept with Jenny Schecter?” God, the way she said it made it sound so dirty. I just nodded, shifting my gaze from Bette to Tina, who smiled at me.
“And you two stopped talking?” Bette pressed. I nodded.
“I don’t know what happened. I mean, we were okay for awhile, and then we just drifted. Now, I have Carmen on my back and Jenny’s talking to some guy on the internet.” I felt myself spilling my problems all over their concrete lanai.
“And you need our help?” Tina asked. Her voice was a lot softer than Bette’s. I nodded, and she climbed out of the pool, wrapping a towel around her waist. She walked over and sat on the end of the lawn chair, putting a hand on my knee.
“Then we’ll help you.” I smiled and Tina patted my hand before standing and making her way inside to grab three glasses of lemonade. When Tina handed me a glass, I grabbed it, nodding with a ‘thank you’.
“What can we possibly do to bring them back together, T?” Bette had asked in a semi-whisper, thinking I wouldn’t hear her. Tina grabbed Bette’s hand and held it against her stomach.
“I know. Leave everything to me.”

I sat in The Planet, drinking a beer, watching Bette and Tina talk to Kit. I had no idea what their plan was, only thinking something was actually planned when Tina said ‘sit here, Shane, I’m going to go make a phone call’. I’m sure Bette and Tina leaked the whole situation to Kit, who patted my shoulder when I had walked in. Leave it to Kit to be sentimental.
I stared down at a magazine I was reading, taking in the articles about the newest hairstyles flooding West Hollywood. Surely, people would ask me to duplicate them. I heard heeled footsteps approach me, but I kept my face down, examining the photos.
“Hello,” a familiar voice said, “is this seat taken?” I looked up with a smile to see Jenny standing there, purse hanging from her shoulder. She was smiling at me.

Hey, big time kudos. You’ve gotten me to read a Jenny story, something I never thought I would do.
