Bette interrupted to get to the heart of the matter. “So how did that lead to making out on the dance floor?”
Tina looked away and sighed. “Well, that probably had more to do with the cocktails as much as anything.”
“So who kissed whom?” Bette asked.
“Bette does it really matter?”
“Yes Tina it does to me. I know that I have no entitlement to an answer or even to this conversation but this situation really does bother me.”
Tina gazed at Bette and tilted her head. “Bette you have every right to want to know what happened and why. I like to think we’re friends now so we’re are a part of each other’s lives. I just don’t want you to get hurt.”
“So, you kissed her.” Bette determined based on the conversation.
Tina gave her a confused look. “No. If I recall correctly, she kissed me.”
Bette released the breath that she had been holding. “Did you think that I would be more upset that she kissed you?”
“I don’t know. I don’t know how you think of me anymore so I just… don’t know.”
Bette looked down. She didn’t have an answer for that so wouldn’t even try. “And”
“And what?”
“Did you think she was any good?”
Tina gazed at her for a moment trying to understand how Bette wanted her to answer. “She was good. But definitely not as good as me.”
Bette stared in confusion before clicking on what Tina was alluding to and chuckled. “You’re right. She was no where near as good a kisser as you.”
They sat silently, Tina waiting for the next question and Bette getting the nerve to ask it.
“So, are you going to see her again?”
“Would it bother you?”
“Honestly? Yes” Bette admitted.
“Then I won’t.” Tina stated. “I have no interest in hurting you. Besides I could never have any kind of relationship with her and the thought of having sex with her is no where near as appealing sober and in the light of day.”
Bette gazed at Tina for a moment and smiled. They had changed so much-both able to compromise with one another without feeling that they were sacrificing or losing. “Thank you T.” She looked at her watch. “I better run. I just came in here to get these sandwiches.” She started to get up then halted and brought her hand to her forehead.
“Shit. I can’t believe I almost forget. I’m filling in for a colleague to speak at a seminar so I’m flying out tonight to San Francisco. Instead of me dropping Ang off, would you be able to pick her up? Jodi said she’d stay until then.”
“Oh sure. No problem. I know how hectic getting ready for a trip is. Tell her I’ll be there around 5?”
“I really appreciate that. I’ll see you Wednesday when I pick her up.”

Bleh, I wont continue reading this story again due to this chapter. Tina doesn’t owe Bette any explanation about Candace or any other women she sees. Or any permission for that matter. I could just see it now. Tina is dating another woman and asked Bette “would it bother you” and Bette answers “Honestly? Yes” then Tina will say “Then I won’t”.
Your writing has such eloquence Robi. Tina must really love Bette. Jenny is an ass. Wake up Bette!!– since when does it take all night to catch up with your sister? Thanks for the post Robi! Can’t wait for more!

Wow…glad they talked there is still feelings there and with that there is hope. I don’t think that was Jodie’s sister…maybe Tina should stop by earlier than 5 to get Angie and see Jodie’s “sister” with her tongue down her throat…lol. More please.
“Bette you have every right to want to know what happened and why.” I’m interested to know why Tina thinks Bette has the _right_ to know… T and C are both single. Bette’s moment with C was two years past, plus Bette is with Jodi now. So, I can see why Tina would talk to her about it, but not why she thinks Bette has any ‘rights’ in this situation.
I don’t know…I still don’t trust Jodi and the “sister” thing. I understand where Bette is coming from, but she’s gotta let Tina go if she’s going to stay with Jodi. PPS…love this story!

Ahhhhhhhhhhh Robi, I finally gotten caught up ith you and this is GREAT. I too don’t think that it was Jodi’s sister that she was with. Jodi said that she does not do well at long term relationship and we always revert back to our TRUE selves. Bette has allowed herself to forget that Jodi told her that. I think by telling Bette that “she has a right to Know”, Tina is giving her a hint that she STILL loves her and care about her. I am SHOCKED that Alice has been able to keep her mouth shut and not tell Bette. Maybe she is trying to see if Bette still loves Tina first. HINT, she was REALLY bothered about the incounter with Candace. PPS :o).
I don’t think Bette has any right to know either.
I didn’t really think T could look at Candace that way ever again in the cold light of day. As for Jodi playing nanny… I don’t like it one bit. We’ll see how that plays out when Tina goes to collect her daughter. Thanks for the updates, Robi.
yeah funny that NANC about the ex-still ‘involved and watching over your life when they had the affair’ but it happens in real life..the affair was just that, the love of Tina by Bette continues…and hope T finds Jodi down and dirty with ‘the sister’…looking forward to the next post…
