Love You Lately Chapters 12-13
Chapter 12
At 5 on the dot Tina was at Bette’s to pick up Ang. Rather than ring the door bell, Tina went around the back to find Jodi sitting in the kitchen sketching. Tina waved her arm to try to get her attention rather than walk in a scare her.
Jodi finally caught sight of the moment and got up to greet Tina. “Hi” she said.
“How are you? Tina greeted back and stepped into the house as Jodi moved aside.
“I’m good. How are you?”
“Fine. Busy but good.”
“Do you want a coffee or tea?” Jodi offered.
Tina was sure that Jodi was about as interested in Tina sticking around as Tina was but thought they might as well be civil since this woman seemed like she wasn’t going away anything soon – thanks in part to her own efforts.
“Um sure a tea would be nice.” Tina said. “Can I just go get Ang while you make that?”
“Yes, she’s in her room.” Jodi informed.
Tina ventured back thinking how rare it was for Ang to be out of sight of either Bette or herself. Her parents were so in love with her it was hard not to at least have her in view. But then Tina remembered Al telling her that Bette admitted Jodi didn’t like kids. She supposed Bette wouldn’t mention it to her because she would think badly of Jodi. The fact is that she didn’t have a problem with Jodi as a person but she certainly questioned how it was that she would make a good partner to Bette who loved children.
As she stood in the doorway, watching Ang sit on the floor in her room surrounded by books and toys, her heart tightened and she felt like she was falling in love all over again. The experience is something she should be used to since it happened every time she was separated from her daughter. Ang was such a perfect combination of Tina and Bette – with Tina’s eyes, dimples and facial expressions and Bette’s coloring and gorgeous dark curly hair. She also seemed to have a flair for creativity.
“Mama” Ang squealed when she saw her mother and held up her arms. Tina reached down and brought her into a tight hug accompanied with lots of kisses that made Ang and Tina, in turn, giggle.

Dear Robi, I hope you didn’t take it as a negative when I said: “I’m interested to know why Tina thinks Bette has the right to know…”. I genuinely want to hear your Tina’s thoughts – simply because I want to understand how she makes her decisions. (Heaven knows the show itself doesn’t give us a clue as to why their version of Tina went cyber for Daddyof2, etc. ) And I just never caught on as to why Tina defers to Bette’s interests in some circumstances, that’s all. Thank you for writing – I do appreciate all your hard work.
I love how Tina is going to go about getting Bette back. Working with Alice will only strengthen their friendship and bond that they have created. Jodi is a fool for doing what she is doing with Nicky. Bette has already been through that and with her already one foot towards Tina it will not take long before both feet are heading towards Tina. Even though Bette does not have a say in what Tina does, Tina feels that she does owe Bette that much to her. What every her reasons are it is Tina business and if she feels the need to include Bette in her romantic endeavors then that is Tina will do. Maybe this is her way of letting Bette know that she is truely sorry for her actions with the guy thing.
Someone let me know of the comments made here and I had to see for myself lol. I didn’t know that my comments from the other chapter will be such a big deal. I was just simply saying how I felt. If I like what I see I praise the writer and if I don’t like it then I let them know.(this is actually my first time making a not so positive comment to a author) For those sending “step off bitch” and “fuck you, just fuck you” my way, I gladly send them back to ya’ll :). Robi is a big girl and she can take care of herself. She’s a writer and she put her story out there; she needs to understand that she put herself in a vulnerable position where her story could be praise or critize. To Robi- I went back and re-read my comment and I was a bit harsh. I apologize for that. If I could turn back time, I would have given you the same message but say it in a different way where it would not come out harsh. Even though I won’t continue reading your story, I do wish you good luck. In the future, if you put a different story maybe I will read it.
u r doing a great job, i just love this story. I am sitting on my hind leggs now. Keep up the super work. Have I mentioned I love this story…
Another one of those who has decided to come out of silentville on the negative comments..Ignore them I say, the whole Tina/Candace/Papi thing I for one think could be completely realistic and compelling. I love how you did the Papi character and as for Candace , you did a good job of her too.I am really into your story, and love to see how Tina manages with the help of my next most favorite L Word character Alice to win and seduce Bette back to her.So keep up the good work and bring it on… girlfriend !!!
I’m getting nothing but enjoyment from your story. Love the flow of conversations and it seems true to life. keep it up..
This is awesome and now let the plan began!
I totally support gigi1976’s words! I had read those comments you’re referring to and was very surprised myself. But you know what? I’ve noticed that some stories on this site have created more controversies than one would think, and I think it’s mainly related to the evolution of Bette and Tina’s characters and histories in the show… Freedom of speech!… For them as well as for you… You summed it up well, if they stop reading it, then your story wasn’t made for them. But i’ll repeat two points that gigi made: a) the simple fact that you provoked an intense reaction makes you a valuable author, b) I’m betting all that I have that these readers are to be counted on one hand, and that 99% of your readers love this story!!! This is your tale, and I agree with your perpective of Tina’s character regarding the events with Candace and her conversation with Bette… Granted, the pairing with Candace surprised me, but hey, that’s your story and you take us wherever you want. I’ll just express my very personal opinion on the fact that although I agree that constructive criticism is always very welcome, i seriously doubt the noble intention of telling an author that one will stop reading. To me, it only serves to hurt the one who delivers the story… And I think it’s a bit of a shame… But hey, freedom of speech, right? Anyway, like where this is going, and love this “Alice on a mission” thing! I also appreciate that it’s not so much a “seduction plan” than a way to show Bette that she’s changed and truly love her… Thanks, and please keep your spirits high!
Okay, the thought of negative comments to this story has brought me from silentville… I love the story. All the experiences and events are realistic in many lifes. So I will revert to two of my favorite quotes from previous eposides…to negative posters First…”Step off Bitch”Second…”Fuck you James, just fuck you”. (replace James with the necessary poster)
Sorry to hear about the grief you have been taking over your story. Personally, I thought the whole Tina/Candace/Papi thing was completely realistic and compelling. I’ve even seen it happen in real life!! So I say screw ’em, they don’t have to read if they don’t want but you should not get discouraged by those negative comments because not everyone is going to like everything someone else does. I mean everyone hated Van Gough’s work in his day and, well, we all know how that turned out. Just look at it as at least they are having some reaction, good or bad, and that means as an artist you are doing your job, you are provoking and making people think! And I’m sure there are more folks who like your story than don’t! I definitely enjoy this story, just have been a little busy and get behind reading chappies so I haven’t commented but please keep goig. whenever Alice gets involved you know there is tons of fun to be had!!
Hey Robi I am so into your story…if u read my last comment u will see i agree its entirely possible in ‘real life’ for love and care to continue after a break-up…been there and done that…especially if u have a child 2gether u never really part and u care because love lingers and there’s the child’s welfare which is paramount…I’d be worried if Jodi was step-parenting my son and fucking around also I’d be worried if I was Bette about T with Canned-arse…I’d think it was unusual if the love didn’t linger between B and T…PPS
I am really enjoying this story, cant wait for more.
You’re doing a great job!! Love the story!!! PPS
Robi,im loving this story.and im sorry if your getting grief over your story too,but like everyone else had said.STEP OFF B*ICH! youre doing a find job and dont you worried about a thing women.go operation suduce dean porter, and tina and papi, alice scene was cute and papi giving tina some boost was good for tina to do a some growing.p.p.s.
Ah Jodi, we hardly knew ye. And I say good riddance to the cheating cow. Go get your woman, Tina! Ace chapter, Robi. Keep em comin!
Please let the negative comments go and continue to write for those of us who are enjoying this story. You’re doing a great job, and I think you handled the Candace thing very well.
I love this story and where you are taking the girls. Great interaction with Alice as usual, keep up the good work!
Well, your story was certainly written for me… love the story, love the pace, and absolutely love the realistic interactions. Chin up!
Wow Robi…let me go back and make sure I didn’t say something negative…phew wasn’t me…I love this story, you are an awesome writer. I say pay no attention to the negative comments and relish in the positive ones. Every story can’t be cookie cutter or it would be boring…you add spice to it and maybe some people can’t digest spicy. More please!
Hi Robi, I am lovin’ your story. It is indeed sad that people feel a need to take the time to post negative comments. You ALWAYS have the option to stop reading or simply NOT reading any story. For example, I am NOT a fan of Bette and Helena as a couple and therefore do not reading any of those stories. Why waste your life or tome posting and spreading negative energy. Move on to the next story and let us who chose to ENJOY this one. I am not a fan of Papi with Tina, but like how you are using it to stoke Bette’s fire for Tina. Iam VERY concerned that Jodi would leave Angelica alone in her room when she has a hearing problem and therefore can not be alerted if something fall over on her and she maynot be able to scream for help. Now this IS something that Tina should bring up with Bette as a concern. Come on Tina, it’s time to put on the knee pads and grovel. PPS :o).
Great job with the story. I’m so enjoying this. Agree with RAU that your storyline is possible in ‘real life’. Thanks for sharing and hope to see another post soon.
I have also been a silent reader of this story. I thought the Tina/Candace thing was interesting. I could see Tina having curiosity over what Bette saw in her. I also don’t think, even if Alice didn’t intervene, that Tina would have slept with her. In my early twenties I partied a lot and even after making out with some women (in my drunken state) I went home alone. Enjoying your story.
Sorry I haven’t commented before, but the negative comments have spurred me on to say how much I’m enjoying this story. Agree with another comment that Jodi isn’t actually a responsible sitter for Angelika, and Bette should be made aware of this. I’m surprised Alice hasn’t already blagged to Bette about seeing Jodi in a compromising encounter!
wow I don’t know what to say. I love reading your story. I find it so refreshing that Tina would meet up with Candace and the idea that they could date even seems so real life to me. I only want to say I love reading. Often I’m on the road so much I keep up with my blackberry but I haven’t quite figured out how to leave comments off of it yet. Being home this week has given me the chance so rest assured I love your story and I even love it more when I read today. Go girl I can’t wait for your next post.
I love this story, please continue. pps
I don’t understand public negative comments. One can always PM writers about spelling or grammatical errors or plot discrepencies. If I don’t like a TV show, I use my remote. Same thing here. Don’t read. I am not a fan of sci-fi so I avoid those stories. Not rocket science.Your story is well written and realistic. Tina is single and curious as to what Candace had that lured Bette. A little bit of drinking, OK, a lot of drinking lowers inhibitions. People get the artificial “courage” to do things they wouldn’t ordinarily. Candace finding Tina attractive would also feed Tina’s ego and reinforce Tina’s self-confidence. Maybe it also gave Tina a better idea of what attracted Bette to Candace b/c now Tina could experience first hand Candace’s allure. Tina should tell Bette about Jodi not watching Angie b/c that’s negligence on Jodi’s part. That’s just plain dangerous. Alice could drop the tidbit to Bette about Jodi and Nicky(?). PPS.
I didn’t go back and read the negative comments, but I will tell you that I am totally enjoying this story. And, I will say what I always say to myself…if you have a story to tell…a story that you just can’t seem to get out of your head. It is with you no matter where you are at…work, the shower, the grocery store, sitting in traffic…then write that story. Write it for you and only for you. Comments are wonderful, and can make you feel great, but no one can make you feel as good as it does to take that story from your head and translate it onto paper. To know that you were able to capture the scenes played out in your head into words that will enable you to share that story with others, is the best feeling of all. And you are doing a wonderful job of just that!! Thanks!
I don’t think my comment was negative. Brief yes, but not negative. I generally keep harsh comments to myself (and believe me, I have a lot of them stored in my head). Look for a PM from me soon. I enjoyed your last story and am enjoying this one as well.
Robi this story is amazing. I think it’s great that you struck a chord with some people. That usually means you wrote something that hit “too close to home” for them. Too bad for them, cuz they’re missing out on a great story! I love your writing and will continue reading as long as you keep posting. Thank you for continuing! So Jodi “let the cat out of the bag” thinking Tina knew already. Jodi’s awfully defensive jumping the gun like that, considering the things she said to Tina about her “outings” and then what she said about Jenny. Jodi needs to be “refreshing” (like she says Jenny is) and tell Bette what’s on her mind and more importantly, her heart. How can she willingly hurt someone like that – especially Bette and what she’s been through. If I were Tina, I would have a problem with Jodi watching Ang (not that she really “watches” her.) I would think that with Jodi being hearing impared that she wouldn’t want to let the child out of her sight…Ang could be screaming her head off in the next room and Jodi wouldn’t know it. Of course, I have no idea how I would approach the problem. It has to bother Tina though, especially knowing that Jodi doesn’t really like children, not to mention all the statistical problems that Jodi presents. I love Alice and how she is so “in to” helping Tina. I wish we could all have an Alice in our lives. Be assured that you have my support with whatever you decide to write Jodi, and please post soon!! I can’t wait to see what Alice has planned to help Tina.
it’s great that tina stood up to jodi…time for her to get bette back…great story
