“You spend time with your rents.  I will be back in plenty of time for us to leave.”

30 minutes later Tina was dressed and ready to go.  Bette left and Tina promised she would text her when they were on their way back to the house. It was decided that they would take two cars so no one would be uncomfortable during the drive.

After a very satisfying meal the Kennards were on their way back home.  As they pulled up to the driveway, Tina noticed a baby blue Chrysler 200 with a big red bow on top in front of her house.  Her heart starts to race.

“Mom?  Dad?”

Her parents just smirk as they both exited the vehicle to get a good look at the new car.  The reason they wanted to take Tina out to eat is because they new the car was being delivered by noon.  They timed it perfectly.  The Kennard’s were able to buy their daughter her first car because she worked hard and got a full scholarship.  The money they were saving for her education was used and they still had enough left to put into an account for her if she decided to go to graduate school.

“Baby we wanted to give you a token of our appreciation for you.  You are a wonderful young woman and we are proud to be your parents.”  Mrs. Kennard said hugging her daughter with tears in her eyes.

“Your mother and I think this is the least we could do for you since you worked hard and got a full scholarship to USC.  So we decided to get you a car as your real graduation gift.”  Mr. Kennard said also with tears in his eyes.

“Oh my goodness mom and dad.  You guys are the best.  Thank you so much!”  Tina said while letting her tears flow freely.  She really is going to miss her parents.

“I’m going to miss you so much.”  Tina said.

Tina is still admiring her new vehicle when her girlfriend pulls up.

“Hey babe.  Do you see what my parents got me?”

“Wow T.  This is a beautiful car. You’re going to look great behind the wheel.  We can take your car and I’ll ride back with your parents.”
