    Love and Basketball Chapter 61

    Chapter 61:

Bette and Tina have been texting and calling all week, counting the days until Tina’s visit to campus.

On Thursday, the Angels have a game against a tough opponent.  The Angels are doing well but this team is wearing them down a bit inside the paint.  They miss  DeeDee’s presence down low.  Tina has to handle the ball a little more and is given the green light to drive to the hoop whenever she has a lane.  By the end she lead all scorers in the game with 34 points.   Her best single game ever.

After hitting the showers Tina exits the locker room to a few waiting fans.

“Hey Tina.  You were great tonight.”  Says a cute admirer that Tina vaguely remembers as someone in the school band.  The girl plays the flute or maybe the clarinet.  Tina feels bad that she doesn’t know her name.

“It’s Jessica.  I play flute for the band.  Your were awesome Tina.  We may have lost if you didn’t have such a great jump shot.”  The girl says with a wink while holding out her hand to the blond.

“Nice to meet you Jessica.”  Tina says as she shakes the proffered hand.

“So Tina, I was wondering if you would like to go see the new Bond movie Skyfall this weekend?”

Tina is a little taken aback at the audacity of the girl until realizes she is a freshman and just doesn’t know Tina is spoken for.  Most of the girls in school leave her alone because they know about Bette.

“Thanks for the compliment, but it was a team effort.”

“Wow, you’re so humble.  I love that in a woman.”  Jessica says moving into Tina’s personal space.

“Oh Jessica, I’m sorry but I have a girlfriend.” Tina replies while putting some distance between herself and the girl.

“I’m sorry.  I didn’t mean any disrespect.  You just seem cool.  Like someone I would like to hang out with.  I hear your girlfriend is away at college anyway.”

“She is.  Bette plays for Stanford.  I don’t want to lead you on so I can’t hang out with you.” Tina answers.

“So what’s the problem?  I mean can you not have any fun at all?  I’m sure it gets lonely at times.  So don’t hesitate to give me a shout.  I love going to the movies and I’m always looking for a movie buddy, so….  here’s my number.”  The bold brunette says as she jots her number on piece of paper and hands it to Tina and walks away.  Leaving the blond to ponder her proposition.

    1. ok, so at least they’ve talked about having “the talk” I really hope they work things out and Tina can forgive Bette’s little moment of distraction/temptation….a girl is only human. Can’t wait for the next chapter, pps!

    2. Sweet chapter but way too short. Just kidding! Relationships aren’t easy especially if they’re long distance one. They all require work so I guess we’ll get to see if these two young women thing its worth the fight. Thanks for the update.
