“OH My God. Does Jess know?” Tina started to get up.

“Yes I told her minute ago. I am trying to get a flight home but it doesn’t look like I am going to be able to get one out until the morning. If I would’ve known I would never left this morning.” Tina could tell by Bette’s shaky voice that she was crying.

“Don’t worry. Just get home safe. I love you. I take good care of her.”

“I know you will and I love you too. I have to go in need to check with another airline I will call you later. Bye.”

“Sorry about all the mystery but Bette said that she wanted to tell you” Tina was already half way out the door. She walked out of the office and knelt down in front of Jess.

“I so sorry sweetheart.” Tina brushed the hair behind Jess’s ear. Jess started crying and hugged Tina. Tina stood up, picking Jess up at the same time.

“Here is her book bag. I put a couple weeks worth of work in there just in case she felt like doing some.” Tina took the book bag from Ms. Patterson. Who had been trying to console Jess, Unsuccessfully.

“Thanks.” She walked down the hall.

“Can we go to the beach?” Jess asked still looking out the window.

“If that’s what you want, then that is where we will go.”

    Beach

“Are you ready to go home?” Tina asked when Jess sat down and picked up a sea shell.

“Tina is my Daddy in heaven?” Jess looked at Tina. Tina sat next to her.

“Yes baby he is.” A tear ran down Tina’s face. She pulled Jess into her lap.

    1. For Jess and Bette, I’m glad that Tina was there for them both, because she loves them both and that is good for everyone. Love your story. Thanks for the post.

    2. So sad. Poor Jess and Bette. Tina is doing a great job with Jess. Jess’s description of heaven really did help her deal with her dad’s death. Thanks for the update, please continue.
