“So how are we?” She said looking at Jess who was letting Ian have some of her smoothie.

“Good.” She said putting the Gameboy in front of Ian and started playing again.

“Jess you dont want to share your good news.” Bette said.

“Oh yeah. Mama I got into the Young Artist program at Art College LA, and I got in on my own.” Jess said.

“Thats wonderful.” Tina said. “What is it?”

“It is the most competitive art program for kids on the west coast.” Bette said. “Oh and Daddy and David are coming on Friday.”

“Theyre what.” Tina said shocked Melvin wasnt exactly spontaneous.

“Yep. He said he was bringing us all something.” Jess said.

“Well we are going to have a busy week then.” Tina said.

“Why? Dont tell me.” Bette said.

“Yep. My parents are coming Saturday. They said its been a couple of months so.” Tina said.

“Goodie.” Jess said.

“Whats Goodie?” Dana asked walking up behind Jess.

“My grandparents are coming this weekend.” Jess said.

“Oh.” She said sitting next to Jess. She tried to take Ian out of Jesss lap but he started to scream when she did. “Okay.” She said putting him down.

Shannon had a shocked look on her face.

“You must me Shannon Im .” Dana said shaking Shannons hand from across the table.

“Dana Fairbanks.” Shannon said.

“Yeah.” Dana said.

“I am a huge fan.” Shannon said. “My dad took me to see you play when you played for UCLA.”

“Really.” Dana said she was flattered. Alice and Lilly walked in.

“Hey guys” Alice said.

“Lilly can I talk to you?” Jess asked shutting off the Gameboy and sitting it on the table.

“Sure.” Lilly said. Jess stood up and handed Ian to Alice.

“Whats going on?” Alice asked sitting next to Dana.

“I dont know I just got here.” Dana said.

“Jess got into the Young Artist program and she wants to do but it is in the morning and I told her that she needed to talk to Lilly about it before we try and work it out with the school.” Bette said.

“She got thats wonderful.” Alice said.

“You knew.” Bette said.

“Yeah I drove her over there a while ago to get the application and to the interview two weeks ago.” Alice said.

“Oh.” Bette said sitting back in the chair.

“If it makes you feel better she didnt tell me either.” Kit said. The rest of the table agreed. Mimi and Ivy walked in with Shane. Every one greeted Shannon and instantly clicked with her. Jess and Lilly came back to the table and sat down.

“Well?” Bette asked.

“I think its great. As long as we can work it out with the administration and I dont lose my star player. I will do whatever I can to help.” Lilly said. Ian was constantly trying to get back to Jess.

“Okay here.” Alice said handing him to Jess.

“I swear I dont get it.” Dana said.

“What dont you get?” Alice said.

“That relationship. Ian wont go to anybody else when she is in the room. Its freaky.” Dana said.

“Were not freaky are we Ian?” Jess said. “I cant help that he likes me better than anyone else.”

“I think its cute.” Marina said.

“Well Teddy is starting to prefer Nay Nay to anybody else.” Jess said trying to shift the attention away from her.

“Okay guys.” Tina said.

“Can we eat I am starving?” Jess said.

“Yeah we can.” Kit said.

“Good.” Jess said. Every one ordered. It was picture perfect. Everyone laughed and got along. Shannon was amazed at how well she fit. She had never felt that way with anything except Softball. She loved the way Ian always ate off of Jesss plate and how he would react when someone else wanted a turn holding him. She sat back and watched her new family. She still felt nervous she just meet what Bette called family but now she was going to have to meet the grandparents. She couldnt help but think about whether they would love her as much as they seemed to love Jess.
