"I guess. I don’t really have anything else to do." Jess said.

"Good. Now I can go finish getting ready." Josie said hugging Jess and Shannon, and walking back into Jess’s room, where she and Buster were staying during their visit.

"MOM!" Ian yelled.

"I’m upstairs." Bette said.

"Mom, Teddy took my Gameboy and won’t give it back." Ian said.

"Okay I’m coming." Bette said following him downstairs.

"Can I tell you a secret?" Shannon asked.

"Sure. Tonight is your night." Jess said.

"I had no idea that you knew us so well. We’ve had our fights and gone through the rivalry thing. It’s not your fault you’re the center of attention." Shannon said.

"How do you figure?" Jess said.

"When I moved in here, we were on equal footing on the attention category. If anything I got more than you did. After awhile I let you take the spotlight." Shannon said.

"Why?" Jess asked.

"Because it was easier for me to live in your shadow than it was for me to be me at the time. I let you test the waters before I jumped in. That is what I meant earlier by not protecting you." Shannon said.

"I don’t know what to say." Jess said.

"Don’t say anything. Just remember life isn’t all that bad in your Shadow. I rather like it." Shannon said with a smile. Jess was speechless. She had never thought about it like that.

Hillary and Cat were standing in the doorway.

"Wow. You two look amazing." Hillary said.

"We could the same about both of you." Jess said.

"Hey that’s my girlfriend." Shannon said.

"Relax sis. I’m taken." Jess teased.

"Damn right you are." Cat said walking up to Jess.

"The cars are here." Hillary said.

"Cool. Let’s go babe." Jess said pulling Cat out of the room.

"But…" Cat said.

Shannon watched them leave before wrapping her arms around Hillary and kissing her.

"What’s that for?" Hillary asked.

"Do I need a reason to kiss my beautiful girlfriend?" Shannon said.

"No." Hillary said kissing Shannon.

Josie walked out of the bedroom.
