    Life:
Altered 03.13 ~*~ Ready, Steady, Play

                “So the showcase, or
    competition, starts at 7pm
.”  Quin said emotionlessly, reading the letter
that they’d gotten about the band competition, but she hadn’t bothered to read
it.  They were all gathered in her
    apartment, including a beaming
    Alice
    .

Quin eyed her, it had been two days,
and she and Maddy were bonding, like good little ***** girls.  She rolled her eyes at them, and
    Alice
was staring at her eyes, they were dark
today, and she had been close enough to see that they were indeed, contact
lenses.  It was another part of the
layered mystery of Quin, whatever her last name was.
    Alice
couldn’t help staring at her, wanting to
    peel back those lovely layers.

“So how’s it work?”  Doogie asked, dipping his finger into the
peanut butter jar and Quin grimaced, moving over the laptop computer and
    reading from the enclosed papers.

“Three sets.  Two bands each set.  They do a battle, two songs each set, they
give us the songs 10 minutes before, and we cover them.  All from the list they sent last week.”  Quin read, and Clapp laughed.

                “Yeah, all the songs we
already knew.  How many songs we know Keith
?”  Keith, who was wearing a Black
    Sabbath
tee shirt, pushed back his hair that flowed to his ***** and
    said.

                “100?  150?”  He
said, chewing on some left over Chinese he’d found in Quin’s very well stocked
    fridge.

“That is?”  Doogie said and Maddy giggled,

                “200, I know at least 200 off
the top of my head.”  She offered and Alice
‘s eyes went wide, that was a lot of
    music to know.

“Um… guys?”  Alice asked and Quin knew it was coming, she’d
seen Quin looking at her with that look, that look of, ‘Can she leave now?’ sort of look.

“What do I do?  I can’t very well wait ’til the end and walk
up onto the stage?  Right?”  Quin gave Maddy a cold look  and Maddy stuck out her tongue at the lead
    guitarist.

“You play, as best as you can.
    Basic chords, and then if…”

“WHEN!”  Keith corrected and Quin growled ever so softly.

“When we make it to the
finals, we play one song, the other band plays the same song, and then we each
    play an original.”  She said
nonchalantly, Maddy clapped her hands and grinned from ear to ear, her black
hair tied up, pulled away from the cyan eyes of hers.  She was stunning to look at, and Alice
had fallen into an easy banter with her,
finding her the opposite of Quin, open and talkative.

    1. wow, just read the last three chapters. Amazing work again! I wonder what’s going to happen between Tina and Bette. I guess they both just need to be up front with eachother, cuz their relationship is getting nowhere but down. And than there is Quin and Alice, I don’t know, but they really should open their eyes and let those lyrics become reality! I love them together. Who would have thought Dana “fucking” Fairbanks (I loved the way you wrote that) would become such a good friend to Shane. It’s so sweet! Now go on and write some more girl, you rock!

    2. Now we have two guilty ones walking around. I can see Tina with Cass. better than I can see Bette with Candace. Marina is very upset with Bette,Tina will see it before Bette tells her. thanks
