Leap of Faith (Chapter 9)

“Jen, get your ass out here,” Shane yelled. “We’re leaving as soon as Beth checks out, with or without you.”
Jenny appeared at the bedroom door. Her hangover was killing her, but she was damned if she was going to give these two the pleasure of rubbing it in. Last night hadn’t exactly gone the way she’d planned. She should have known that this group of women would be just as jealous and exclusionary as they’d always been.
“Do whatever you want,” she said defiantly. “I’ll catch a cab.”
“Don’t be stupid,” Shane said, her patience running thin. “We’re going to the house so you and I can change and then to The Planet for a late lunch.”
The idea of food nearly made Jenny lose it then and there, but she knew she didn’t have a choice.
“Whatever,” she sniped. “I need a few minutes.” She disappeared back into the bedroom, closing the door behind her.
“She wasn’t always like this,” Shane said quietly. “And before she wrote the book, she actually did some pretty great things for me…and for Lara.” Shane met Beth’s eyes. “I hope that person is still in there somewhere. That’s why.”
“I’ll respect that,” Beth said, kissing Shane lightly, “for now. But your friend is on her own after lunch.”
“Oh yeah?” Shane pulled Beth closer and kissed her passionately.
“Get a room will you?” Jenny didn’t understand why the thought of Shane with Beth pissed her off so much.
“We did, smart ass,” Shane answered calmly as she grabbed Jenny’s old school train case. “But you used it instead.” She saw no need to tell Jen anything more. The bratty bitch act was pretty stale.
Helena sat with the children and Kathleen at their customary table. Lara’s aggressiveness last night –and this morning – had been sexy as hell, but troubling too. As one who’d done it often enough in her own right, Helena was well equipped to recognize that Lara had used sex as an excuse not to talk. Yet she had no idea how to help her.
In the kitchen, Lara kept busy while her mind raced. She was embarrassed about her behavior at the Gala and intended to apologize at the first opportunity. On top of that, she knew that she was running in place, not so much living her life as she was waiting for the bad things she expected to happen to come down on her like a ton of bricks. She had no idea how to break the cycle.

I appreciate the warnings. Excellent chapter. Wow. Let’s see… Bette and Tina: They seem to be standing strong for the moment. Love the artwork they made with the kids. Angie is just too cute with her Day-Day obsession. Helena and Lara: I hope Lara listens and they are able to work through their current problems. Kit: I am happy things seem to be going so well for her. Jenny: Feel free to ship her back wherever she came from — the Carmen thing was cold. Shane/Beth/Carmen: Shane and Beth just seem to be finding a groove together. I hope Carmen doesn’t interfere with it — intentionally or unintentionally. Danish: They toy thing at the beginning was pure Danish as was the stuff with the French press. Too funny that Shane was afraid to ask why they needed a new one. Hee! Dana certainly was persistent with her horny hormones. Hot. They were having such a wonderful day until Dana started feeling those pains. Needless to say, I hope she and the baby are OK. The good thing is that she and Alice are very strong and I think they can make it through anything together. I am really looking forward to your next post to see what is happening with her. I echo MaGoose’s comment. Can we start calling D “Day-Day”? That’s awfully cute. What a way to end to end the chapter. I hope all the previous activities did not take a huge toll on D’s pregnancy. If they had to lay off some earth shattering sex for a while, so be it. Love this story and love your writing. Thank you very much as always!!

ok so here’s the deal, I haven’t read the chapter and I’m forcing my eyes not to drift down to the other comments below. What I’m going to do is start commenting on the chapter before I read this one because as you know I have no internet and I have to find a way to sneak it home from work. The last chapter was packed with amazing awesomem sex and drama and you never cease to amaze my ass…not literally but you do amaze me. I can’t wait to read today’s chapter we love and support you and I expect to see everyone supporting on the discussion boards Sammy has an artists spotlight coming up and we all need to support our amazing Danish writers most of them have been working hard for 4 years on lovely never-ending Danish I am eternally grateful :)

I love the bond Beth and Shane have formed, I’m positive it’s strong enough to get over this Carmen thing, although I like Carmen a lot so I hope they all stay friends!
