    The letter..

     

    “I’m.. I’m..” Bette choked out as she gasped for air, tears streaming non-stop on her face. She cried all night, it surprised her that she was able to cry some more this morning. “I’m.. so.. I’m so.. scared..” She admitted in between bouts of tears. She didn’t answer her phone.. she didn’t attend school this morning.. all because she was afraid to face Tina. She would break down the moment Tina decides to break up with her again.

     

    “Scared of what?” Sam whispered breathlessly. She was getting scared too. For Bette to act like this, something bad must’ve happened.

     

    “I don’t..” Bette swallowed hard. “I don’t want to lose her..” She wailed as she buried her head once again into Sam’s drenched back.

     

    Tina. Sam closed her eyes and sighed. Of course it had to do something with Tina, she gave herself a mental slap. But what happened between Tina and Bette? They were doing really good the last time she saw them. “Bette..” Sam softly uttered as she stroked Bette’s hands comfortingly. “What happened?” She waited with baited breath as her best friend struggled to compose herself behind her.

     

    After a few minutes of steady breathing and heavy lip biting, Bette finally succeeded in reeling in the tears and stopping them from flowing down to her blotchy face. She still felt like shit, but at least she was calmer than she was a few minutes ago. She exhaled a generous amount of air as she pulled back slightly and allowed her best friend to turn around and look at her.

     

    “Bette..” Sam gently called out after a few minutes had passed without an answer from the girl. “Bette..” She nudged her best friend a little. Maybe she fell asleep, she sighed as she studied her friend’s sleeping face. “Buddy, please talk to me. C’mon.. look at me..” She gently urged.

     

    “I am looking at you!” Bette retorted angrily, taking Sam by surprise.

     

    “You are?” Sam raised an eyebrow. But her eyes are like slits, she scrunched her forehead in wonder, can she even see me? She waved a hand discreetly in front of Bette’s face to check.

     

    “What the fuck are you doing?” Bette huffed as she slapped Sam’s hand away.
