Just The Girl – Chapter Fifteen (a HYD-inspired fic)

"What are those?" Tina pointed to the bags with her pencil.

Bette looked at her as if she had grown another head. "Shopping bags, stupid." She said playfully with a ‘duh’ expression on her face.

Tina rolled her eyes and crossed her arms on her chest. "I know they’re shopping bags you dolt. I’m just asking what the hell they’re doing on top of my study materials." Tina retorted, she hated being called stupid. Especially by an ass like Bette Porter. "Why don’t you just fuck off Porter?" She said, feeling a little grouchy. It was lunch time and she was hungry, but they had an important exam this afternoon that she was cramming like hell to study for.

"You’d think that you’d be a little nice to someone who has come to you bearing gifts." Bette answered icily as irritation began to seep in. She had left the school during recess to go to Rodeo and buy dresses for Tina. She normally never did her own wardrobe shopping, she had Raoul, her personal shopper for that job. But since Raoul had never seen Tina, Bette didn’t trust him on the important task of buying the blonde a dress. She, on the other hand, felt strongly of her knowledge of what might look good on the girl. So she went ahead and did the exhausting job of store hopping herself. After all her hard work, she was kinda hoping that the blonde would appreciate her efforts. A smile would have greatly eased the brunette’s fatigue. Seeing Tina’s irritated face hurt her feelings a little. "A simple ‘thank you’ for the thoughtful gesture too hard for you to say?" Bette’s voice got louder with each word, earning a few curious stares from the other students studying inside the library. The infamous Porter temper began rearing its ugly head.

Tina sighed, she wasn’t in the mood to have an argument with Bette right now, especially inside this place. This was one of the few places where she could actually study without interruptions, well until she crossed paths with F4 that is, and she didn’t want to be banned from it due to some paper bags. She rubbed her temples and forced a smile at the easily pissed off brunette in front of her. "Thank you for the bags, and whatever’s inside them." She managed to choke out. "So damn thoughtful of you." Tina smiled.
