Just The Girl 2.0 – Chapter Four (based loosely on HYD: Returns)

“Quite hands-on, huh?” Tina smiled shakily, blushing badly in embarrassment.

“What can I say, I’m a girl on a budget – a very tight one at that.” She winked in a charming way before letting go of the blonde’s cold and clammy hand.

“You’re.. um..” Tina coughed, trying to regain her composure. God, she wanted nothing more than to hide under a rock right now. “You’re Billie Blaikie?” She choked out.

“The one and only. Though it’s just a screen name.” The brunette chuckled. “I wanted to keep my anonymity in case people think it sucked. Apparently, it was the only wise decision I made when I shot this crappy short film of mine.”

Tina looked at the girl curiously. “Why did you confess to me now when your identity’s supposed to be a secret?”

“I really dunno.” The girl shrugged and grinned sheepishly, massaging the back of her neck with a hand. “You seem easy to talk to, that’s all.”

Tina answered her with a shy smile. “Um.. about what I said a while ago.. I’m sorry.. I may have been a little.. uh.. more than a litte harsh with my comments..”

“It’s okay, don’t worry.” The girl waved a hand dismissively. “I like it more when people criticize my work and tell me reasons why they hated it. Instead of you know, saying I hate it and then not explaining why.” She explained with a tiny shrug. “But tell me, I know its a stretch, but did you like anything about the film? Anything at all?”

“I liked the music. I thought the soundtrack was very very good.”

“Really?” The brunette visibly lightened up, a shit eating grin making an appearance on her pretty face. “Thank you, that will more than make up for all the negative reviews I’m sure would be coming my way.”

Tina tilted her head to the side and studied her companion closely. “Don’t tell me that you were the one who composed and performed those songs too..”

“Guilty as charged.” The director placed a hand over her chest and bowed her head.

“They were amazing.. especially the song at the end. It gave me goosebumps..”

“I’m glad you liked it. Do you think I should shift careers to music instead of film?” She asked the blonde with a cheeky grin.

“Maybe.” Tina smiled. “Hey you know what, my friend owns this place.. ever heard of the F4 Lounge?”

    “Yes, of course. Who hasn’t?”

“Well, they’re looking for new talent to play for them during Acoustic Tuesdays. Maybe you should go check it out. I’ll put in a good word for you.”

“You will? Wow, thanks! That’s awfully nice of you..” The girl grinned broadly, her face about to burst with happiness.

A taxi pulling up by the curb interrupted their conversation. Looking outside, Tina recognized her bestfriend waving at her from inside the backseat of the car.

“That’s my ride..” She placed her cellphone inside her purse and tucked her hair behind her ears, rearranging her sweater too. “I better go..”

“Oh? Okay. Goodbye-” The girl trailed off, looking at the blonde questioningly.

    “Tina. Tina Kennard.”

“Nice name.” She smiled sincerely. “Well, goodbye then Tina, I hope to see you around campus and maybe the F4 Lounge too if I get lucky.”

“I’m sure you will.” Tina said over her shoulder as she made her way towards the exit. “Oh I’m sorry..” She turned abruptly around just when she was about to step out into the street. “I didn’t catch your name..”

The brunette flashed her a bright smile. “It’s Kate Arden.”

    1. right, kate, director of my A… will learn the hard way that nobody flirt with Tina. Bette will tell her lol. Great post please don’t stay away too long Alch

    2. Rut roh. Bette’s gonna start sitting on tree branches so she can live amidst green, and Kate Arden shows up. I’m relieved that you made a Kate a musician and not a filmmaker, but it still sounds like there is drama ahead.

    3. After reading this chapter, I have enrolled myself in lamas classes. I feel that the breathing technique will help me get through the next few chapters. I’m starting to feel numbness, not sure where. Thanks for the post, once again, you rock!

    4. Oh no Kate Arden. I hope that she stays away from Tina. So Bette is still freaking out from having to lay off workers. I can understand her dislike for that type of situation. I love this story and hope that Bette and Tina will stay together.

    5. A request, please please let Bette N Tina be together forever. Ok now that request done..I absolutely love your stories. Bette have some major challenges coming her way..profesionaly & privately. Thanks for sharing, you are the best.

    6. Drama, drama, drama on the horizon! Sounds like Bette needs to speak with someone about her issues, and Kate coming on to Tina is gonna cause some issues…PPS:)

    7. Oh never liked that name. Never did and never will. Poor Bette, she has got to talk to somebody about her situation. Its gonna drive her crazy.

    8. God your such a bad tease!! I mean that in a good way of course…looks like lots of drama in the horizon for B&T..hmm..as always this was a joy to read thank you

    9. Bette should maybe consider therapy… That’s a lot of guilt to carry. But her red-tagging didn’t make that guy jump to his death. Nor is she to blame for PGC’s financial straits. If she can’t tell a therapist, she should at least tell Tina. Now, this Kate Arden… I smell trouble. Thanks for the post, Alchemy.

    10. Wow!!!!What an awesome update. I have been reading from the start & really love all the twists & turns that U are coming up with in this fic. U have me on the edge of my seat & I can’t wait to see what happens next..adding Kate to the story…nice touch..Bette will get so jealous & with her shutting Tina out with the finicial problems of the Potters business…Tina may need someone to talk to…just saying-But I hope Bette opens up to her. I also loved the Paris Hilton joke-it was the best one that I have ever heard. Classic. Keep up the awesome work..
