Is it Finally The End of The Road – Followup Chapter 1
Paula stared at the screen in confusion. “I didn’t make this appointment for Tina. I wouldn’t have done that!” Trying to figure out how this potential disaster happened, Paula suddenly groaned. “The temp.” Looking up at her bosses, she explained. “The temporary employee who covered for me last week must have changed it.”
“Well crap!” Emily said in frustration. “Our instructions are clear about this. How could she have made that mistake?”
“I don’t know…” Paula looked back at the screen. “All you have to do type in their name then double click on it. Any special instructions will pop up in a separate window. All I can think is that she didn’t bother to check for instructions.”
Dan looked toward the door praying that one of the women would show up late, or early. “Okay listen, whichever one of them gets here first we get them into the office right away. No small talk today Paula. Just hello, then push them through the office door. Got it?”
“Got it,” Paula said nervously.
~~~~~~~~~~
“Okay Kit, I’ll see you in about an hour and a half. Tell Angie I’ll be there after she wakes up from her nap…Bye.”
Bette turned her phone off as she got out of her car and made her way into the Murray building. Heading for the elevator, she thought about the rolling brown outs the stifling heat had been causing all over the city. Her gaze shifted to the stairs, but then quickly dismissed the idea. Her therapist’s office was on the sixth floor, and there was no way she was going to trudge up that many flights in this heat, no matter how good of shape she was in. Besides, they had announced on the radio that the brown outs were over for the day. The doors slid open and she walked in and reached forward to press the sixth floor button. Taking a step back she leaned against the rear wall, closing her eyes and thinking how nice it will be to play with Angie in the cool water of her backyard pool.
Bette heard the doors as they started to slide close, then felt the tremor as they stopped in their tracks and opened again.
“Oh…sorry.”
Bette’s eyes sprang open at the familiar sound of the flustered voice, her hand automatically moving to adjust her shirt as she stood up straight.
“Tina,” she choked out in shock.
Her name was said almost in a whisper, but Tina would know that voice anywhere. Her dash to make the elevator brought her forward momentum to within two feet of the woman she still couldn’t get out of her mind, or her heart. Not able to say anything, she just stood there taking in the beauty of woman before her as the doors closed and the elevator started its journey upward.
Bette casually swung her purse off her shoulder and held it as a shield in front of her. “What are you doing here Tina?” she asked in what she hoped was a noncommittal voice.
“I had to resche…” She was cut off as the elevator car screeched to a halt, causing her body to lurch forward into Bette.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dan and Emily were now pacing, impatiently waiting for either Bette or Tina or both to walk through the door. Emily stopped and stared at the door.
“Did you hear that?” she asked.
“Hear what?” Dan asked.
“The elevator emergency bell.”
Staring at each other they both yelled, “Oh shit!” and raced out their office door.

i don’t remember reading this before and as much as i hated season 3, i’m glad you gonna post again because i know you’ll make it better…but something wrong with the format and last 10 pages are a bunch of gibberish LOL
I thought it was just me. So there really is something with the other pages. Anyway, I digress. Thank you for posting! What a treat! :)
I remember this from before because I’ve read everything you’ve written on this site. I LOVE your writing and I’m glad you are continuing this story. Season 3 caused MUCH anger…and physical illness….for me just like it did for everyone with a heart and brain! I hope you will continue to give us updates…revisits…to If It’s Meant To Be as well. It’s one of 3 or 4 that I re-read just for the hell of it. It always makes me feel good when I’m finished. Again, I’m glad you’re posting again and hope that you’re able to do so regularly. Many thanks for sharing with us.
I remember this story and I’m glad you’re continuing write it. Yeah, last few pages didn’t look quite right.
Ohhh!! And thanks for getting ZuZu’s Petals to update her story too. I loved it and was disappointed that it wasn’t finished. I have anymore to look forward to! Thank you!
Wasn’t season 3 the biggest abuse of the viewers psyche! I just dreaded seeing what the writer’s were going to throw out there next. I know you will help alleviate some of that angst with a story that makes some sense! Thank you and please post soon.
Welcome back Seahurst – I know we are in for a treat. Off to a great start, even with my disappointment that the final 6 pages were not, in fact, part of the story :-(
Freaking fantastic! I can’t wait for more. I don’t remember this story but I love where it is going.
OMG…I am an emotional mess right now. I may even have to reread it…Wow…It is so amazing to have you back…Thank you…and PLEASE post again soon.
Wow this is intense. I like it. A little season three with a little season five mixed in, very nice. Hope it all works out in the end. I like stories like this that deal with their thought process and emotions. I like the way Bette dealt with it. Better than she did in the series. You should never tell people bad new when you are in bed together. Bed should be for sleep and happy memory making. So please keep it coming and I’ll keep on reading. Thanks PPVS
I do remember the story and I am glad to see it back. By the way I’m also pleased to see you! I look forward to reading this story again and also to it being finished thank you very much!
Wow, interesting. btw: How much time has passed between Bette’s Citibank interview and their elevator meeting?
Thank God!If only there could be a remake of season 3 “The Nightmare Year”Glad to read ZuZu will complete her story as well.
YES!!!!! Thank you Seahurst!! Bette is finally out of that Citibank office and two years removed from that heartbreaking morning. I hated that you left them in that state… (obviously) And what a fantastic deliverance…Can’t wait to see where you go but honestly, anything is better than where they were.Also- thank you so much for your ‘author’s comments’ – i am beyond flattered- (and feeling the pressure!! LOL!) Thanks so much again for writing.
*simply bows to the Master, err, Mistress*
Wow, and here we go…..you’re excellent and portraying all levels of emotions let me tell ya, this is going to be a great ride!
It is so good to see you posting again. I agree with pretty much everyone else. Thank you for this.
Oh I remember this, especially the last sentence about the bank. God I hated season 3 but adding a little season 5 may do wonders afterall. It´s so nice to see your name on the site again.
Never read this before. Am hooked already . Thank you!
At first I was thinking, something I don’t do ofter, maybe I will just skip this story. I have no words for the hated season 3. Then I continued to read, I realized that brought you a little of season 5 into this saga. Now I think that I will have the ability to continue reading this story.
I remember this one! Thanks for writing again!
This is the first time for me reading this story. It’s great so far. I’m glad you fast forwarded a couple of years from that painful time.
OOhhh love this!! So did the second chapter start a few years after the first? I wasn’t sure. I hope you can bring these two back together with your wonderful writing!
Ooohh, love this one Sea!!! What a great way to pick this one up where it left off. One question though, do they normally see each other when handing off Angelica, so the surprise is just to see each other in this place? Can’t wait to read more! : )
I must have missed this the first time around, but am looking forward to the repost! Thanks! :)
Great start, Seahurst ! I just love it when these two really get to talk to one another ( which didn’t happen often in the show ;) ) and I kinda like the idea that they get stuck in the elevator together, for some reason… ;)
i dont remember this either but im looking forward to it. thx
Great story and I am so glad to see you here again. I hate reliving any of B and T from S3 but I like the broken elevator…….more soon please!
OMG! Seahurst you’re back! Thank you, thank you! PPS!
Thank you for posting. I hated Season 3 as well but I just know that you’ll make it better. Thank you for this story.
I did not watch season three myself, just had the feeling of it on the site and knew it wasn’t pretty at all. I hated it too, still do though. Thank you for rectifying what Showtime had screwed up, I am sure you will lol. There are ETERNITY!!!PPVS
Hey Sea, Glad that you are back writing. You were so wonderfully supportive when I started writing — I sometimes think that if you hadn’t commented as you did on Chiaroscuro, I would never have continued. So back at you! I know how busy you are so it means even more that you are writing for us.
Welcome back Sea! I was so happy to see this post. Wonder how things will go in the elevator! PPS
Yea, you’re back! This seems like a a combination of S3 and S5 w/the two of them getting stuck in the elevator. Whatever it is, it is certainly amazingly written.
Hey Seahearst, Thank you for reposting this tormented tale. The hurt between Bette and Tina is immense and so palpable. I really do hope that they can find their way back to each other and the life they shared. Angie needs her parents.Seahearst, you make my heart break reading this story.Thank you so much and please continue soon.Your Loyal Fan.
It would be hard toforget something written. I still go back and read them. So glad to see your name on the site again thanks
Oh shit is right, this is about to be interesting
