Bette is becoming arrogant and refuses to look Tina in the eyes.  “Do you know why you had to have an AIDS test?”

Tina responds.  “Dan said they found needle marks on your arm.  They said you didn’t remember where they came from.  So to be on the safe side they said we should have an AIDS test.”

Bette states matter-of-factly.  “Tina that wasn’t the only reason!”  (Bette just blurts it out in Tina’s face.) “I slept with someone and I don’t know if he used a condom?”

Tina is staring at Bette in disbelief.  Tears are falling on her cheeks.  “Why are you being so cruel to me?  I’m here to take care of you.  I love you.”

Bette is now yelling at Tina.  “Don’t you get it Tina?  I don’t want you here!  I never loved you.  It was all a game to me.  I’m a player remember!!  Tina I want you to leave.  Just stay away from me.  NOW GO!!!  You’re boring me.”

Tina runs to the door and flings it open.  She looks back at Bette.  (Bette is pouring herself a glass of water.)  Tina waits to see if Bette is going to look at her.  When she gets no response from Bette she says,   “I hate you too!  I don’t have to take this.  You can sit here and rot for all I care.  You are the meanest person I’ve ever met.”  Tina is wiping the tears away with her sleeve.  Bette finally responds flippantly, “There’s no such word as ‘meanest’.  Tina cannot take Bette’s indignant behavior any longer!  Tina runs out the door with tears streaming down her face.  She runs down the hallway to the elevators and pushes the ‘down’ button.

Patty looks up as Tina runs past her.  She goes into Bette’s room.  “Is everything all right?  I just saw Tina crying.  What’s going on?”  Bette’s has tears in her eyes and can barely speak.  “I told her to leave me alone because I don’t love her anymore.”  (Bette starts to cry.)  Patty leaves without saying anything to Bette.

Tina is standing outside the rear Celebrity entrance of the hospital when her cell phone rings.  Tina grabs it and flips it open.  “YES!!  WHAT IS IT?” she snaps.  “Mom I’m sorry.  I didn’t mean to yell at you.”  Tina is listening.  “Mom what do you mean you know something is wrong?”  Tina takes a breath.  “Mom I made a mistake with Bette.  She doesn’t love me.  She just said some things to me.  Mom she was so cruel!”   Tina starts to cry again.
