In The Aftermath of Betrayal
“What?” Jenny acknowledged Shane then, looking at her through tear-filled eyes. “Cutting again?” She asked with bitterness before rolling her eyes and averting her gaze once again. “Don’t flatter yourself, Shane.”
“Jenny, please.” Shane grasped at her chest as if the acidic words were cutting right through her. “I’m sorry, okay?”
Jenny shook her head. “No, it’s not okay.”
“Damnit, Jen,” Shane let out an exasperated, low growl. “I fucked up, okay? I know that. Please. Can’t we just – Can’t we just talk about it?”
Jenny sighed.
“The other day we sat right here, Shane,” Jenny patted the couch on each side of her before looking over to Shane once more. “Do you remember that?” Shane struggled with the memory until finally Jenny chose to clarify. “The day that I got fired from my own movie. You walked off set with me and you brought me back here, remember?”
Shane nodded, unable to even blink. There was absolutely no telling what was going through Jenny’s mind at the moment and Shane remained silent, afraid that if she chose to speak her friend would suddenly close up.
“You said I was your best friend.”
“You are, Jen. You’re my best friend. I love you, you know that.”
Jenny frowned, pouting slightly. “At one time, I thought I knew that.” She stood for the first time since Shane had barged into the living room and turned to face her, another tear falling. Shane was quick to open her mouth to argue but Jenny was even quicker to cut her off. “Love isn’t fucking Nikki behind my back, Shane. I don’t know what that was, but I know it wasn’t love.”
“It was stupidity.” Shane offered. “I was stupid, so stupid. I was drunk. I was trying to get over Molly, I think. There are no excuses, Jenny.” Shane chanced taking a step closer to Jenny, who in turn stiffened in response to the action. It was a good sign, it seemed, that Jenny opted not to respond by stepping away instead. Shane was thankful for that.
For the first time, the panic of slowing someone that she truly loved was real to her and as the thought sunk in, shear terror enveloped her.

I agree with bvhall, I’m not a Shenny fan, but this is well written and I think it has a lot of potential. Good job, looking fwd to the next chapter.
