Chapter 14

Tina drives into the parking house at the CAC. She runs around the car and opens the door for Bette, they smiles at each other. They walk inside.
The first one to see them is James, he rushes towards them and give Bette a hug. Hey, how are you? He asks. Im doing great, not long before Im back. Bette replies. Hey Tina, its nice to see you too. He says
Same here, James. Tina replies and smiles. They continue into Bettes office. James goes back to his desk.
Tina closes the door. Bette is standing and looking around the office. She looks a little sad. Baby? Is anything wrong? Tina asks as she walks up to Bette and rub her arm. Bette turns her attention to Tina.
I thought I missed this place, but standing here now, I just want to get out. Bette says, Tina is surprised by the revelation Bette has just made.
I thought you loved it here? Tina says.
Yeah, I thought so too. Bette replies. I guess I havent been listening to myself. This job has been a hiding place for me, a place where I could be someone who was strong, together and important. Bette reveals to Tina.
Why havent you shared these thoughts with me before? Tina asks.
That was one of our problems, remember? No communication. Bette replies.
Tina looks at her and nods her head in agreement, as she just remembers.
So what do you want to do? Tina asks.
I dont know. I guess Ill take a few days to think about it, to think it through properly. Bette says. Can we just go? Bette asks Tina.
Sure. Tina replies.
They leave, without talking to Franklin. Luckily for Bette, he was in a meeting. She didnt want to talk to him, before she has made up her mind.
They stop by the Planet on their way home.
Alice and Dana are there, as usual Tina walks over to them, while Bette goes by Kits office first. She knocks on the door, and walks in as soon as she hears Kits voice from the inside. She walks inside.
Hey, baby sis, how are you doing? Kit says and smiles.
Im fine. Stopped by the CAC today, and as I stood there, in my office, I just wanted to get out as soon as possible. Bette replies.
What do you mean? Kit asks.
I mean, that I I have been with the CAC just to feel important, and strong, a place where I could keep my mask on. But after these last couple of months, I dont feel like hiding anymore. Bette replies, and Kit smiles, and she give Bette a big hug.
What was that for? Bette asks and looks at Kit, who is still smiling.
For being honest to your self, finally, and for seeing that there is life outside of the CAC. Kit says and continues; That job ate you up slowly, it took away your light day by day. Bette smiles to Kit. I have no clue as to what to do next though. Bette says. No need to rush it, you can always get a job here. Kit says and gives Bette another hug. Im proud of you little sis. Kit says. They break off the hug, and Bette goes over to the others. She takes a seat next to Tina and grabbing a hold on her hand.
Kit just offered me a job here. Bette laughs. She did? Maybe you should take it. Tina replies with a huge grin on her face. Yeah, maybe I should. Bette says. The others are just looking at them with amusement.
Dont you have a job? Alice asks.
Yes, I do, but not for much longer. Bette replies.
Why? Alice keeps asking.
Well, I realized that I stayed there for all the wrong reasons, Im not going to hide anymore. Bette says. Alice and Dana are looking at each other questioning. Bette and Tina smiles at each other. And still holding hands.
