If it is meant to be…Chapter 76

Alice turned and looked in the direction Tina had gone. Uh…she said her stomach was upset from the food.

Oh. Do you think I should check on her?

No, I think she just needed some privacy for a moment.

    Oh, Ok.

Both women just stood there, not quite sure how to start the conversation they both had been fantasizing about, off and on all evening, as they snuck glances at each other.

Finding her voice first, Susan looked at Alice and smiled. So…youre the other pea.

Alice looked at her, confused. The other pea?

Yeah…Tina always tells me that you and I are like two peas in a pod. She lifted her eyebrow. So, Ive been waiting to meet my podmate for a long time.

Alice beamed at Susan, grinning like a schoolgirl who just got asked to Homecoming by the star quarterback. She thrust out her hand, unconsciously bobbing her head. Alice Pieszecki.

Susan giggled at Alices eagerness, but gently took the hand she had offered. Susan Kennard.

Once again the two women just stood there, knowing they had lots of questions for the other, but just not quite having the courage to be the first.

    So, Susan said.

Alice continued to bob her head. So.

Finally Susan started laughing. Enough already! Gee Alice, youre a writer for heavens sake. Come on…give me your best line.

Alice narrowed her eyes, Susans challenge causing a rush of adrenaline to shoot through her body. What, you cant come up with your own? You need me to lead us along?

Susan looked at Alice with surprise. Uh, I think I came up with the whole peas in the pod thing! Its your turn now

Alice looked desperate for a moment, realizing that not only was Susan right, but that she was much quicker than Alice…well, at least in this situation. She looked into Susans eyes…and smiled when she saw the most beautiful thing looking back at her…nervousness, shyness, uncertainty…all mixed in with a touch of desire.

So…I understand you know this city pretty well?

Susan smiled. Yes, I do. I have lived here for about twenty years.

Wow…youre almost a native. I dont get to visit that often, so when I am here, I have to depend on taxi drivers to make sure I get where I am supposed to be going.

    Really?

    Yeah.

Susan smiled…perfect. So, would you like me to show you around sometime?

It was Alices turn to raise her eyebrow and smile. Thank you. That would be wonderful.

Both women stood staring at each other, eyes locked…neither one blinking. Then, they both burst into laughter at the same time.

Smooth Pieszecki…very smooth. It was Susans turn to bob her head. Youve got a date.

    3. I really want Tina and Bette to be together. I agree that they need to talk to each other about their fears. That is the only way to move past them. I am a native of NYC. My wife & I met in NYC. I lived in the Bronx. Believe me if Tina & the children decide to move there they will have fun. Write soon

    4. “The course of true love never does run smooth.” These two will work it out, and we’ll enjoy reading all about how. Keep the faith, T. Keep writing, Sea.

    5. SO GLAD to see that you had psdted today. Still say that Tina ex Dan needs to get tranfer to NY. they Dan and Kathy loves Bette so try to get in moved to NY. Bette would be happy,Tina would be happer. and the children could get the Porter charm as a glide line to life. thanks

    7. Please, Please, Please let to two beautiful women learn from past mistakes and remember to talk to one another. Don’t let fear dictate their life. There should be someway for them to be able to live with one another.

    8. I want to echo bvhall and move everyone to New York for now. Seattle is great but they all need to excitement of Bette’s city. Glad you had time in your adventure to write for us, you are such a favorite.

    9. Darlin’, if this is ‘pablum,’ BRING IT–I want another helping! Loving this chapter, even though it’s got me all tied up in agitated knots! Thanks so much for posting!

    10. seahurst, have missed your story, this is so much better than the new season. Been really dissapointed with the angle they are taking, but thats TV need good ratings right? keep posting and thanks for taking the time.

    11. First: I liked your previous “stand alone-jumbling-thought” chapter. Jumble on girl!

I agree completely – sometimes we need an escape route from what is going on in our world. You can make me wet anytime – with that bucket of mush of course!
You might be proud to be a pabulum type of writer but I have to disappoint you Sea – your writing is everything but simplistic and your ideas are not unimaginative.
As for your distraction syndrome: avoid all shellfish, mollusks, seahorses and marine animals from now till the next chapter – think creatures with 4 legs or wings (like burgers and hot-dogs)

    12. Be Very Proud! I am always happy to read your simplistic and *very* imaginative ideas about Tina and Bette. Another excellent chapter, as always. Thanks for writing!

    13. Yay…she’s back and with another great chapter. I know you will guide B and T through the turbulent waters safely. I agree with others, maybe NY should be the place for them for a while. Any way no matter where you take us/them I am along for the ride! I think the “mush” is what is needed now so thanks!

    14. “The one thing we can never get enough of is love.
And the one thing we never give enough is love.”
      Henry Miller, American Author

Seahurst, your stories, are an example of how much we enjoy reading about love…the B&T kind. Keep writing and let’s not worry about all the negativity that seems to occur on this site once in awhile…peace.

    15. ah Tina wakes up???!!!!Once again, Bette has been turning herself inside out (e.g. horrible job at CAC) to meet T’s needs…what about Bette’s creative needs??? Tina has vested hers in her children, Art and Artists are Bette’s children…jmho
