How Many Times Do I Have To Say I’m Sorry ch.2

You got great Vegas odd, T. She smiles weakly, hoping to lighten the mood.

Tina however does not bite. So, youre serious?

Yes. Just like I was at home. I cant be in that situation anymore Tina. Its not worth it.

    So, were not worth it?

Bette quickly losing the ground she has left tries to ease the sting out of her last statement. Fighting and fighting to solve nothing isnt worth it. Youre always worth it. She smiles jokingly at Tina. Hopping that Tina sees that even after seven years of marriage and an impeding separation, they can still remain friends.

But Tina wont give in. After what she witnessed their friends reactions at the house and taking care of a little girl constantly asking about her mother; Tina was in no mood for games. Dont. Do not do that.

    Do what?

Look at me all *****. Like you want me. When you walk away like you did, you lose that right.

Her face was getting hot and she could tell from Bettes expression that she saw it. At that moment Bette knew that Tina was all business. She really wanted the marriage to work; even she herself could not see it. Or if she ever would again.

I.. Im sorry. I didnt realize. Im sorry.

Its ok. Im just tired. She sighs heavily and her anger begins to be overtaken with fatigue.

Yeah, so am I. Look, T, Im sorry we left on bad terms, but Im glad you came here.

You are? Tina asks clearly confused as to where Bette was going to take this.

Yes. We have to leave this on good terms for Francis sake. Its what she deserves. Bette states almost robotically, as if shes been practicing.

No. What she needs is for her parents to behave as such, for her sake. And what she needs is for you to not be a jackass. Her cheeks are burning and her hands are beginning to shake.

At this point Bette is really at a loss for words. She knows that how she counters Tina s last statement could end in two ways: Tina could break down and have a full blown anxiety attack or she could explode and lash at Bette like she has only done once before. Neither option was a really better than the other, so she went with the old standard.
