"Dr. Peters…"
"please call me Katie… Dr. Peterson was my mother" she interrupted causing Shane to chuckle lightly… she to hated people calling her Mrs. McCutcheon…
"OK.. Katie I’m fine… its just my friend Tina is in labor.. i was just on the phone with the entire gang.. when out of no where her water brakes…and I’m not there to support her….." she sighs "its just…. frustrating" she said nervously scratching the small peroxide bleached patch of hair on the back of her head…
"i understand… would you mind telling me about these friend, who are they to you" Katie asked trying to calm Shane down… giving her an outlet for her frustration and anger…
Feeling extremely safe around this women, Shane told her everything… how Bette, Tina, and Alice had taken her in when it seemed no one else cared… about how she went with Tina to the insemination.. about Carmen and how in love she was… about AL and Dana’s fairytale romance of best friends turned lovers.. she told her anything that came to mind… but mostly Carmen..
"i just wish i could be there with them now" she looked over at the doctor who had somehow turned her anger into joy and asked" do you think you could get me out of this place for maybe an hour or so…. i promise to come back" the puppy dog face being turned on full blast… it was all she honestly had left..
"I’m sorry Shane… i understand how important this is to you.. but there is nothing i can do" Katie’s heart went out to Shane.. she could tell this wasn’t about Shane wanting out of rehab but to be with her friends.. to share in their excitement….
"please… i never make a promise i don’t keep… I swear ill come back" Shane looked the women in the eyes " look, earlier you asked me to trust you….right"
"yes i remember"
"well that’s all I’m asking of you now.."

Once everyone arrived at the hospital.. Bette and Tina were rushed in for an emergency C-section… while the others waited down the hall for any news… oblivious to the fact they left Shane on the phone…

Oh, I almost forgot. I loved Carmen’s little flash of jealousy. That was great.
I had posted a comment on the previous chapter, because I thought it was the last one. Then (surprise!!) I see that it’s not. Well, I’m glad, because now it feels like I didn’t have to wait for an update. Anywho, like I mentioned before, I like the way the story is progressing. I can see that Shane will seriously put her strength and resolve to the test before she’s home free, but you know how that old tune goes, “you’ve got to go through hell before you get to heaven.” Keep it up.
Oh. My. God. Pleeaaasee update soon, this is so awesome! I really love it! So please please don`t let me hang too long ;-)
